🎗️ Breast Cancer Awareness Month x Black History Month 🎗️

As part of both (Pink October) and , Walsall’s Breast Cancer Support Group for BME women (known as Omeedh-hope) is hosting an awareness stand:

📅 Today (23 October)
⏰ until 2pm
📍Health and Wellbeing stand (by Costa Coffee), Walsall Manor Hospital

The event aims to encourage open conversations about cancer within Black communities – helping to break down taboos, raise awareness of early diagnosis, and highlight the support available.

🗣️ Naheed Razzaq, Outreach Support Officer at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “Black History Month is a really important time to raise awareness of breast cancer among BME women. Some may present late because they don’t always recognise the signs or symptoms – especially as there isn’t much representation in literature showing how these can appear on different skin tones. Our group offers a safe space where women can talk openly about cultural norms, barriers and shared experiences.”
