🤔💭 Imagine walking into a community centre and being unable to vote or access the support of a food bank because you lack photo ID...

This image speaks volumes about the state of our society—where accessing basic rights like voting or seeking food support can depend on documentation that many simply don’t have.

For millions across the UK, this is a harsh reality.

📌 Almost 2 million people in the UK lack the right form of photo ID to vote in elections.

📌 Over 750,000 people may have been discouraged from voting in the recent general election due to ID requirements.

📌 In the last UK elections, at least 16,000 people were turned away at polling stations for not having the right ID.

📌 Photo ID is required at most food banks. Without it, people often need a supporting letter from a caseworker or other professional, which isn’t always accepted or available when urgently needed.

For those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, leaving prison, or growing up in care, securing a government-issued photo ID can be costly and complex. Yet, without it, they are locked out of fundamental aspects of life—voting, housing, employment, education, and financial independence.

We're on a journey to ensure no one is excluded from participating in democracy or accessing essential services.

Last week Wednesday, we attended a session at Hackney CVS hosted by Social Founders.

It was brilliant to see Merrifield founder & CEO of Support When It Matters again and listen to him share his insightfully strong story of resilience and determination, how he launched his social enterprise, and the ongoing impact he's has in the community 👏🏾🎯

Peter and his daughter went from starting out with one desk in a small Hackney CVS office to a revenue of over £2M which he uses to reinvest back into the company and others to ensure there is continued growth of housing and essential services for those facing challenges with accessing them.

Such an inspiring and powerful session! We also gained great knowledge from:

🔸️Kieron John Mishcon de Reya LLP
politician and councillor, Sam Pallis, an expert in Hackney's procurement and grants
🔸️Hackney Council's Emma Pilling of Hackney Works, which helps with employment
🔸️Paul Wight of and Hackney Business Network who helps to find connections and resources for SMEs in Hackney.

Those with no proof of ID face barriers to accessing services such as food banks and health services, employment, education, and housing. At IDGO UK our mission is to break down those barriers and ensure there is equality and inclusivity for all 🙌🏾💫

It's important for us to ensure we're connecting with charities, community interest companies, councils, and social enterprises. There were so many I got to meet at the event!

Busy start to the year! 😅

On Monday, we had the brilliant opportunity to be invited by to meet with a panel of 4 investors and founders at x+why to gain valuable advice and feedback on our upcoming sales campaign.

As you may know, we've been on the fundraising journey for some time now. While we've made great progress in securing funds and investments, our main goal remains to raise £800,000.

This will enable us to launch the IDGO UK Smartcard and mobile app with our MasterCard program managers and tech team.

Raising this amount as a seed-stage start-up without a launched product is no small feat.

That’s why our next step is to launch an 🔸️MVP (Minimum Viable Product)🔸️ which is a smaller, scaled-back version of our offering designed to test the market, generate card sales, and bring cash flow into the business.

We're really happy to share that beta trials for the standard IDGO Card—a simple yet essential proof of age and ID card—are going live in just 2 weeks! 👏🏾

It’s a pivotal time for IDGO and we appreciate all the support that’s helped us get to this point.

✨Transformational Wellness Day for a Powerful Cause ✨

I had the absolute honour of attending an incredible Wellness Day at the beautiful House to join the fundraising campaign for the amazing 🩸

We took part in 3 sessions, including breathwork, yoga asana, and the most beautiful sound bath healing, which helped me disconnect, recharge, and feel completely invigorated. 🌿💫

Sharing ny huge gratitude to , who hosted the wellness day and sessions alongside talented practitioners who donated their time and energy: , , , , , and 🧘🏽‍♀️🙌🏾

Beyond healing, this event was about something bigger: raising awareness and funds for .

The is on a mission to raise £200K for this deserving cause, and I'm so proud to be part of the journey to assist in reaching the ultimate goal 🎯💰🚀

The (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust) is dedicated to raising awareness about the shortage of stem cell, blood, and organ donors within the Black and ethnic minority communities, helping to save lives through donor recruitment and support for individuals with life-threatening illnesses.
