🎉Just one week to go until our Extravatranza Event, launching the results of a trans health empowerment research project, along with an all-trans performer filled night of entertainment, socialising, free food, and more!🏳️‍⚧️

It is on Tuesday 27th August, 4-8pm, but you can arrive & leave at whatever time suits you! The venue is Walthamstow Trades Hall, 61-63 Tower Hamlets Rd, London, E17 4RQ. It’s a quaintly dated trade union space & a deep commitment to supporting underserved communities (so much so that they have invited us to use the space for free!)

💥In the links section of our bio you can find:
* An incredibly comprehensive access review of the venue (some brief highlights: Ground floor venue with ramp access. Wheelchair accessible toilet. Separate low-sensory room.. This access review was created by our access coordinator who will be there on the night & available to address any access issues you may have wherever possible.
* An itinerary for the night (which of course may be subject but hopefully gives you a rough idea of what to expect)
- A link to printable copies of our posters
* A link to the venue website

Covid-19 Precautions:
We will provide K95 masks on the door and around the venue, and strongly encourage people to mask if able.
Please take a lateral flow test before coming if you are able, if not we will have some rapid tests on the door so you can take one and just wait outside for 15 mins for the result - you are welcome to arrive early if you plan to do this so you don’t miss anything!
Please do not attend if you have any viral symptoms, even if it’s not covid, as any viruses can pose a threat to the immunocompromised and chronically ill members of our community (including me!). Instead come along to our online launch on the 31st at 3-6pm!

💖I’m really excited for this event and to share lots of trans talent & our research results & resources! We really hope to see as many of you there as possible, so please do tell your friends & come along, even if it’s just to grab some free food and resources!🎊

If you have any questions, suggestions, or things that would make it easier to attend, please DM or email info@ache-together.org!

🌟 Paid Opportunity: Looking for a transfeminine person to take part in a podcast! 🌟

This will be part of a 4-part podcast collection that will be available as part of our trans masterdoc website! For more info on this, go to the “Current Project” page on our website. We hope this will be a valuable resource for trans people everywhere, and we’re committed to offering way more detailed info than your typical instruction leaflet you get with your HRT and daring to touch the topics that other resources don’t: talking in detail about stuff like ge***al changes, sexual changes, and info the trans community has found ourselves 🏳️‍⚧️

• We are aiming for the podcast to be about an hour - we hope to create something dynamic with us comparing and contrasting experiences and asking each other questions etc
• The podcast will be both audio and visual
• The podcast will be filmed online so you can be based anywhere
• We will be paying you £15 p/hr - the same rate everyone who has worked on this project has been paid - and paying you for 2.5hrs (totalling at £37.5): 1hr for you to prep some things you want to talk about, 1hr for filming, plus 15 mins either side of the filming to set up & then to have time to check out with each other at the end of filming. If we go over time we will of course pay you for that extra.
• Everyone will be kept anonymous unless you want to share your name/social media etc
• We will try pick 2 transfems so it can feel more balanced, dependent on enough people applying so we can align timings
⚡️
What we’re looking for:
• People available to film sometime in the next week
• People who have been on HRT for at least 2 years, so you are at a point where effects have levelled out and you are able to reflect
• Chatty & comfortable talking on camera
• Comfortable talking about the more taboo effects, particularly ge***al & sexual effects
• We’re open to hearing from anyone who meets the above! If you’re interested send us a DM with a short paragraph about why you want to be part of this and your availability for the next week (or the soonest you can be free) ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

Open Call for illustrators!🌟

Just send us a few examples of your work via DM or email: info@ache-together.org 💥

We are producing a masterdoc of trans healthcare info and we are looking for an illustrator who can help bring that to life. We would give you a clear brief of what kinds of images we need based on what information we decide to include in the masterdoc. We expect it to take no more than 15-20 hours but if it’s more than that you will still get paid for the extra hours. Pay is £15 p/hr - the same as everyone working on this project. It will require quite a quick turnaround so please consider if you have the time to dedicate to this over the next month.

We are imagining we are looking for warm and colourful illustration, but are open to considering different styles so please feel free to apply whatever your art style. ☀️

We encourage everyone to apply, especially those who have not done processional illustration before, we’d love to give this opportunity to someone to share their art with the world. But professional artists are also welcome to apply - the more the better!

Please send your examples of your art by Tuesday 16th July, but the sooner the better!

If you have any questions please DM or email and we’ll do our best to help. 💖

we just wanted to provide a quick update to say thank you for all the incredible applications, and thank you for your patience while we need to take a bit of extra time to process them, as we received over 100 applications - far more than we had anticipated! we’re overwhelmed by the truly astounding quality and quantity of applications we’ve received and are so grateful to everyone who took the time to apply. we’re aiming to respond to everyone by the end of the weekend, and are also thinking deeply about ways we can capture and reinvest the energy that went into these applications by developing some kind of network of trans individuals whose wild dreams of the future align with those we hold here at ache, for us all to keep touch with each other and hear the sick projects we’re up to, the hundreds of different threads we’re weaving, separate and together… it’s been devastating reading through all these applications and feeling with my whole body how exploitative the job market is - how many of us submitted dissertations and art projects and showed off timetables and zines we’ve edited and compiled videos of art exhibitions we’ve made??? the power dynamics that exist in this world are often fu**ed up, and f**k us up, and we want to honour the sheer ENERGY you’ve put into applying, and help it go somewhere…… because the genius, the creativity, the resilience we’ve seen is world-shattering, world-building. this is one project we got funding to run, but we can and should be pioneering in all kinds of directions to keep this stuff happening, keep building the futures we want and need and deserve. we need all of us, all of us, all of us

we wanna reiterate that there will be email responses to everyone who applied by the end of the weekend (and that lots of you wished that there had been better confirmation that the form had gone through! apologies for any anxieties caused by that, and thank you to those of you who let us know). thank you so much to all the trans ppl who applied, all the trans ppl in the world who love each other fiercely and sweetly, all the trans ppl who didn’t make it here today. with love and solidarity and rage and a resounding battle cry!!!
