What does a care worker do?
You can work in a variety of settings, such as in a care home, at someone’s home, or within the community. You’ll support them with their social and physical activities, including:
Eating and drinking.
Attending appointments.
Shopping and money management.
Undergoing basic medical checks.
Washing and dressing.
What does the role of a care worker involve?
Your day-to-day might include:
Booking and accompanying people to appointments.
Assisting with personal care such as showering and dressing.
Assisting people to eat and drink.
Supporting people with their shopping.
Monitoring individual’s conditions, taking their temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight, and possibly helping with medication.
What skills and qualifications do I need?
What's most important is:
Your kindness, patience, and compassion.
Good English, numeracy, and writing skills.
Your ability to understand and follow procedures.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Good communication and listening skills.
You may also need:
GCSE A-C in English and Maths.
A social care qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
Don’t worry if you don’t have these qualifications – if you’re interested in getting them, you can work towards them once you start the job.

Community Care Assistant
Job Description
As a Community Care Worker, you will be responsible for looking after the physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs of Infinite Care Network Ltd.’s service users using a person-centered approach. You should observe and promote the patient’s choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfillment, and other rights and maintain good professional relationships with service users, their families and friends, and other stakeholders. You should actively support other Care Workers and adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Duties of the job include:
 Providing personal care and support to every service user with a wide range of needs, illnesses, and disabilities.
 Knowing and understanding the care and support of the service user.
 Undertaking the tasks detailed in the service user’s care and support plan using a person-centered approach and in the least intrusive way.
 Encouraging the independence and motivation of the service user and not fostering dependent behavior.
 Providing input into the care and support plans of the service user by regularly feeding back to the Field Care Supervisor.
 Assisting service users in getting up in the morning and going to bed at night.
 Assisting service users to wash, bath, and shower.
 Assisting service users to dress and undress.
 Assisting service users in looking after their skin, teeth, hair, and nails.
 Assisting service users with toileting, continence management, and personal hygiene.
 Assisting service users with their medication at the agreed level of support and as detailed in their Medication Care Needs Assessment.
 Preparing food and drink for the service user, being aware of the service user’s choices/preferences, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs, and cultural/personal dietary requirements.
 Providing light general household domestic duties, including housework and laundry, as detailed in the care plan or instructed by Management.
 Using manual handling equipment safely and correctly.
 Taking responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment belonging to the service user.
 Maintaining good communication and developing effective working relationships with service users.
 Providing companionship to the service user, actively talking and listening to them about their interests.
 Helping the service user to maintain contact with their family and friends.
 Accompanying the service user on trips into the community.
 Assisting the service user in managing their personal affairs.
 Keeping the service user's living environment as safe as possible, whilst respecting the service user’s choice and rights.
Key Qualities:
 Minimum 2 years experience in a healthcare role as a Care Worker
 Empathy and ability to relate to people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
 Skills in communicating with tact and sensitivity.
 Ability to remain calm under pressure

 DBS clearance to work with vulnerable people.
Desirable Qualities:
 Voluntary experience working for an organization that supports vulnerable people
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
The post holder is required to familiarize themselves with all policies and procedures and to comply with these at all times. CONFIDENTIALITY & DATA PROTECTION
The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff, and other health service businesses and meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) at all times. The post holder must comply with all company Information and Data Protection policies at all times.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and any subsequent relevant legislation and must follow these in full at all times including ensuring that they act in line with all agreed procedures at all times to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Failure to comply with these policies may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
MANAGING STRESS
Infinite Care Network Ltd has an agreed policy & procedure which links with a range of services and arrangements for staff to manage stress. All staff are required to familiarise themselves with the policy and services to best manage their own and their colleagues’ stress.

FLEXIBILITY
This job description is intended to provide a broad outline of the main responsibilities only. The post holder is required to be flexible in developing their role in agreement with their designated manager. In addition, they may be required by their manager to carry out any other duty commensurate with their banding and expertise.
