How did you celebrate bringing in 2022???

Throwback 📸

I’ve been looking through the archives this week and found these gems from 5 years back!

I look back at how I perceived “fitness” and what it was to be “healthy”. But in fact all I remember from this is sacrifice.

Let me explain…

To maintain a low body fat percentage or have a six pack, we need to give up and sacrifice a lot of the things we love in life.

At the time of this shoot I’d be eating 3 chicken breasts a day, 2 tuna steaks, 2 protein shakes and a ton of veg and oats.

I’d also have given up (just to name a few) beer, wine, chocolate, sausages, bacon, burgers and even potatoes! I wouldn’t let myself slip.

Sounds miserable right?

I won’t lie… it’s not a great way to live. Constantly preparing meals so I didn’t have to eat fast food before I’d go out to meet friends, drinking vodka and fizzy water on nights out instead of enjoying the taste of beer and wine and training twice… sometimes thrice per day!!!

It was full on.

Do I look like this now?

No.

Am I just as strong, healthy and happy?

Way more so! 😁

Am I carrying a little extra chub?

Hell yeah! And I love it 😉

What I’m trying to get at here peeps, is this…

Just because you think you’ll be truly happy once you have the body fat of a greyhound… doesn’t mean you will be…

Choose your goals wisely and achieve them because they make you happy, rather than because of how they make you look.

You’re all beautiful to me 😘

🏄‍♂️WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER🏄‍♂️

Do you know why I love being my own boss?

I’ll tell you…

For the last 10 years I’ve grafted my way through the fitness industry.

I worked silly hours on very little sleep.

Some days I would leave the house at 5.30am and not come home until 10pm!!

It was killing me, I won’t sugar coat it…

It. Was. Brutal!

But I had a vision. I knew it wouldn’t always be like that and that all the hard work would pay off eventually.
And it has…

If you’d asked me 10 years ago what my business goals were, I’d tell you this…

I want loads of clients, I want to hit 30 hours of PT per week and I want lots of money for this hard graft. Oh and I want a six pack too!

I got there after 3 years and hated it…😂

I was knackered, burnt out and resented getting up for work each day.

Ask me what my goals are now and I’ll tell you this…

I want to be time rich, work with a select few clients and enjoy my free time to do with what I please… and i’m okay with not having a six pack. If it means doing the things I love… who cares. A little bit of podge is sexy anyway right? 😂

That’s where I am now 😀☀️
Working smarter not harder 👊🏼

Time is precious (I know this all too well) and personally I feel we should strive to become time rich rather than financially rich. If you can have both, well, that’s just winning 😉

Also, if I’ve got 8-10 clients per day, i’m going to be knackered. This means each client won’t be getting me at 100%. Instead they’ll get a watered down version of Ben Coleman Fitness.

If I only work with 3-5 clients a day, those clients are getting me at my tip top self 👍🏼

I’m 100 times happier this way and that’s what’s important 👊🏼👊🏼

What’s the point in earning tons of money if you’ve got no time to spend it??

So to summarise.

No boss to breathe down my neck.

Time off as and when I like.

And the fulfilment and pleasure in knowing I built something from the ground up is priceless 🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏄‍♂️

If you’re thinking of doing it… do it!
