This week our Christmas festivities continued here at Walton Park Care Home, on Thursday our wonderful staff, residents, and their families came together to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day and it was truly magical! 🎉

Our residents were all smiles as they joined in the fun, donning their festive jumpers. It was a day full of joy, laughter, and plenty of holiday spirit!✨

But beyond the fun and festive attire, today reminded us of the deeper meaning of the season. For our residents, this time of year is especially important, It’s a time for connection, for shared memories, and for feeling the warmth of family and community. 💖

We were also delighted to welcome Three Rivers school choir who's renditions of Christmas songs such as Feliz Navidad brought smiles to residents and staff alike.

Thank you to all our wonderful families, residents and the choir for making this week so memorable! Here's to many more shared moments of joy this Christmas season. 🎁🎄

Our festive season officially got underway this week, and what a joyful start it’s been! On Monday, our residents came together to decorate our beautiful Christmas tree — a lovely afternoon full of memories, smiles, and plenty of sparkle. 🎁💖

The festive season can be a meaningful and magical time, and experiences like these make it truly special for everyone here at Walton Park. Here’s to many more heart-warming moments in the weeks ahead! 🌟

Monday the 1st of December starts our festive season here at Walton Park Care Home where our wonderful residents will be decorating their Christmas Trees.

We’d love for our wonderful families to join in the fun too! Whether it’s helping add a bauble, sharing a mince pie, or simply enjoying the glow of the lights, you’re always welcome to be part of these special moments. 🎅🤗

This tree-decorating tradition officially kicks off a month full of exciting activities we have planned throughout December, from school choirs, pantomime and a Christmas party! We look forward to seeing you soon

Yesterday we celebrated International Men's day here at Walton Park Care home, we celebrated the wonderful men in our Walton Park family with a fun and friendly afternoon which included a game of dominos.
Our gents enjoyed some great games, plenty of laughter, and a bit of friendly competition. It was a lovely opportunity to recognise their stories, strength, and the kindness they share with us every day.
A big thank you to all the incredible men in our community — residents, staff, family, and friends. We appreciate you!

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming a local school choir to Walton Park Care Home, their beautiful singing brought joy to residents and staff filling the home with smiles, warmth and a lovely sense of community.

These visits remind us of the importance of intergenerational contact, the children gain confidence and connection whilst our residents enjoy the warmth and energy that only young people can bring.

We're delighted to share that this choir will be returning in December followed by another local school on 2 dates, the 3rd and the 12th of December to sing Christmas Carols. So please come down if you are able to so we can celebrate the festive season together. Thank you to the choir for brightening our day!

Today, residents and staff at Walton Park Care Home came together to observe a two-minute silence in honour of all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. It was a moment of reflection, gratitude, and unity as we remembered the brave men and women who will never be forgotten

A Relaxing & Fun-Filled Afternoon at Walton Park Care Home!

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of friendly Scrabble games followed by some soothing spa treatments!

Laughter, relaxation, and a touch of friendly competition made it a day to remember. It’s moments like these that bring smiles, connection, and a sense of calm to our community.

The Clocks Are Going Back on 26 October 2025!

That extra hour might sound great — but for many older adults and people living with dementia, it can be confusing and disruptive.

So, how can we make the clock change a little easier (and even a bit brighter)?

Here are 5 simple, caring tips to help:

1️⃣ Ease into it
Start shifting bedtimes and routines by 10–15 minutes over a few days. A gentle change = a calmer week ahead.

2️⃣ Chase the daylight
Morning sunshine is magic for mood and body clock balance! Open those curtains early and soak up that light.

3️⃣ Keep things familiar
Same meals, same cuppa time, same favourite chair — routine brings comfort and confidence.

4️⃣ Light up the evenings
Dark afternoons can feel disorienting. Add warm lighting, night lights, and clear clocks to keep things cozy and clear.

5️⃣ Reassure & connect
A kind word, a smile, or a shared song can do wonders. Remind your loved one: “It’s just the clocks — everything else is the same.”

A little planning and lots of kindness can help everyone feel safe, calm, and cared for as the seasons shift.
