Recently at Walton Park Care Home, we had the pleasure of celebrating one of our wonderful residents as our Resident of the Day. 💐

Our Resident of the Day initiative is something very special to us. It gives us the opportunity to dedicate the day to one individual resident, celebrating their life, their stories, their achievements, and everything that makes them unique. Throughout the day, all our departments puts in extra effort getting to know them even better, looking through memories, sharing conversations, and doing activities that are meaningful to them.

We believe that every resident deserves to feel valued, appreciated, and truly seen. Taking the time to focus on one person reminds us that behind every resident is a lifetime of experiences, family, passions, and memories that deserve to be celebrated. ❤️

Moments like these help strengthen the bonds between residents and our team, creating a warm and supportive environment where everyone feels important and respected. It’s also a lovely way for other residents and staff to learn more about each other and celebrate the amazing people who make our home such a special community.

At Walton Park Care Home, we are proud to make sure our residents feel not just cared for, but celebrated. 🌟

Today our residents settled in for an old western, during our latest Movie Matinee Day! With cowboy hats on screen, familiar theme tunes, it was a wonderful afternoon filled with nostalgia and smiles.

For our residents living with dementia, films like these can be especially meaningful. Old Westerns often bring back fond memories of trips to the cinema or favourite actors from years gone by.
Familiar storylines and music provide a comforting sense of routine and reassurance, helping residents feel relaxed and connected. Watching together also offers valuable mental stimulation as residents follow the plot, recognise scenes, and share their memories — along with gentle physical movement as they tap along to the music or get cosy in their seats.

Meanwhile, other residents enjoyed a lively session at our Dominos Club, where there was plenty of friendly competition. Games like dominos encourage concentration, coordination, and social interaction — and, most importantly, lots of laughter!

Whether enjoying the Wild West on screen or a competitive game of dominos, meaningful activities like these play such an important role in supporting wellbeing, confidence, and connection within our Walton Park family 💛

This week we celebrated Cornish Pasty Week in the most delicious way possible! 🥟✨

Our wonderful residents rolled up their sleeves, dusted off their baking skills, and crafted their very own traditional Cornish pasties including a vegetarian option. The kitchen was filled not only with the mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked pastry, but also with laughter, stories, and fond memories.

As they crimped and filled their pasties, many residents reminisced about holidays and day trips to beautiful Cornwall — sharing tales of seaside strolls, family adventures, and, of course, enjoying a proper Cornish pasty by the coast. It was heart warming to see how food can bring back such treasured memories and spark joyful conversations.

It was truly a day full of baking, storytelling, and smiles — and we’re delighted to say the pasties turned out absolutely fantastic! 💛

We had a wonderful Knit and Natter session this week at Walton Park Care Home 🧶💛

There’s something truly special about sitting together with yarn, needles, and plenty of conversation. Our residents enjoyed an afternoon filled with creativity, laughter, and shared memories. From seasoned knitters to those simply enjoying the company, everyone had the chance to feel included and valued.

Activities like Knit and Natter are so important in care home life. They help maintain fine motor skills, encourage focus and creativity, and most importantly, create meaningful social connections. The simple act of knitting and chatting can spark reminiscence, build friendships, and provide a wonderful sense of purpose and achievement.

It’s not just about making scarves and squares — it’s about weaving together stories, smiles, and community. 💬🧵

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so warm and welcoming. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Today at Walton Park Care Home, we were proud to celebrate National Acts of Kindness Day — a special reminder of how the smallest gestures can make the biggest difference. 💙

Kindness is at the heart of everything we do here. Whether it’s a warm smile, a listening ear, lending a helping hand, or simply spending a few extra moments with our wonderful residents, these everyday acts create a home filled with compassion, dignity and joy.
Days like today remind us that kindness isn’t just an action — it’s a value that brings us all together and strengthens our community.

To make the day even more special, we were also celebrating one of our amazing carers on her birthday! 🎉🎂 What better way to spend your birthday than surrounded by appreciation, smiles, and of course, a little extra cake! We are so grateful for the dedication, warmth and kindness she shows every single day.

And as if that wasn’t enough excitement for one day — it was Pancake Day too! 🥞 Residents and staff enjoyed some delicious pancakes with their favourite toppings, sharing laughter and sweet treats together. A perfect way to bring everyone together and add even more smiles to an already heartwarming day.

Here’s to spreading kindness (and enjoying pancakes!) not just today, but every day at Walton Park Care Home. 💕✨

Fridays at Walton Park Care Home are all about relaxation, connection, and a little bit of pampering!

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful range of soothing treatments as part of our weekly Spa Day — from gentle hand massages and nail care to calming face treatments and quiet moments of relaxation. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, conversation, and a sense of calm that everyone could feel.

These sessions are about so much more than looking good — they create meaningful one-to-one engagement between residents and staff. Taking this time together encourages conversation, trust, and emotional connection, which is especially important for residents living with dementia.

Spa treatments can be incredibly beneficial for people with dementia. The power of touch, familiar routines, pleasant scents, and a calm environment can help reduce anxiety, promote wellbeing, and bring comfort. Most importantly, it helps our residents feel valued, cared for, and truly special.

A beautiful way to end the week — relaxed, refreshed, and smiling 💆‍♀️💅

Here at Walton Park we are proud of our daily movement to music sessions. 🎶

With five fun and varied activities — Zumba, Move It or Lose It, Seated Line Dancing, Move and Groove, and Bring on the Music 50’s — there’s something for everyone to enjoy while staying active.

These sessions are more than just exercise. They provide vital physical and mental stimulation, while bringing residents together through shared experiences, laughter, and music. Group interaction plays such an important role in making these moments meaningful, helping to boost wellbeing, confidence, and connection. At the end of every session the residents partake in a game of balloon tennis, which is always a hit!

We’re already seeing smiles, energy, and lots of toe-tapping!

Today at Walton Park Care Home we had a wonderful time celebrating National Carrot Cake Day 🥕🍰

Our residents rolled up their sleeves and got involved in baking delicious carrot cakes to share with everyone — residents and staff alike. From measuring ingredients to mixing and decorating, it was a real team effort filled with smiles, laughter, and the lovely aroma of freshly baked cake.

Baking together is about so much more than the finished treat. It provides meaningful activity, encourages conversation, stimulates memories, and gives residents a sense of purpose and achievement. Being able to take part and contribute in this way is incredibly important for wellbeing and helps create special moments of connection throughout the home.

Of course, enjoying a slice together at the end was the perfect reward!

To celebrate, our residents gathered together for a wonderful musical sing-along, enjoying the timeless classics of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and many more favourites. The Bistro was filled with smiles, laughter, and the sound of familiar songs that brought back treasured memories for so many.

Moments like these remind us just how powerful music can be. It connects us, lifts our spirits, sparks conversations, and helps our residents relive special times from their lives. 🎶❤️

Today at Walton Park Care Home, we are proud to mark Dignity Action Day — a day that reminds us just how important dignity, respect, and compassion are in everything we do.

For our residents, dignity means being seen, heard, and valued as individuals. It’s about respecting personal choices, protecting independence, and ensuring everyone feels safe, comfortable, and truly at home. Whether it’s taking the time to listen, supporting daily routines in a way that suits each person, or simply sharing a smile and a conversation.
In preparation for dignity action day our residents cut out leaves for our dignity tree in arts and crafts this week

Dignity Action Day is not just one day for us — it reflects our everyday commitment to treating every resident with kindness, understanding, and respect. We are proud of our team for the compassion they show, and grateful to our residents for trusting us to care for them with the dignity they deserve.

💜 Because dignity matters — today and every day. 💜
