Today our home was filled with the comforting aroma of freshly baked pastries as our residents rolled up their sleeves for Bakers’ Day! Together, we mixed, kneaded, and sprinkled our way to a delicious selection of treats — all lovingly served later for a delightful afternoon tea.

Wholesome activities like this bring warmth and connection to our home, helping everyone feel valued and engaged. The smiles around the table (and the wonderful smell of pastries!) made for a truly heartwarming afternoon. 💕

🩷Regaining Confidence and Joy: Ronda’s Story🩷

When Ronda, a bright and creative 78-year-old, experienced a fall at home, her world suddenly felt a little smaller. Once independent and full of life, she found herself losing confidence and withdrawing from the social activities she used to love. Her family worried that she might never regain the spark that made her who she is.

That’s when they turned to Walton Park Care Home.

🌍💜 Alzheimer’s Awareness Day – 21st September 💜🌍

Today, we come together to raise awareness and show our support for all those living with Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s is a progressive condition that affects the brain, leading to memory loss, changes in thinking, and difficulties with daily activities. While it mainly affects older people, it is not a normal part of ageing.

Here are 5 important facts about Alzheimer’s:
1. Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60–70% of cases.
2. Over 55 million people worldwide are currently living with dementia, with Alzheimer’s being the leading cause.
3️. Early symptoms can include forgetfulness, confusion, and difficulty finding words.
4. Staying socially and mentally active may help lower the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
5️. Families and carers play a vital role in supporting those living with the condition.

At Walton Park Care Home, our staff proudly wear the purple ribbon to stand in solidarity with residents, families, and everyone impacted by Alzheimer’s. 💜 We warmly encourage family members to collect a ribbon from our reception and join us in raising awareness.
