🍕 National Cheesy Pizza Day at Walton Park Care Home! 🍕

On 5th September, our residents rolled up their sleeves and enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon celebrating National Cheesy Pizza Day. Each resident got the chance to create their very own delicious pizza, carefully selecting their favourite toppings to make the ultimate cheesy treat for dinner.

From classic combinations to adventurous choices, some residents even added pineapple — sparking the age-old debate of “Does pineapple belong on pizza?” The verdict from Walton Park… YES, it does! 🎉

The atmosphere was full of reminiscing, creativity, and the wonderful smell of pizzas baking. To top it all off, our kind residents even made a few pizzas for the staff to enjoy — and they were absolutely scrumptious!

It was a truly delightful afternoon of food, fun, and togetherness here at Walton Park Care Home.

We can't wait until the next Cheesy Pizza day!

At Walton Park Care Home, we’re looking for a warm and enthusiastic Activities Assistant to join our team. You’ll play a key role in creating and facilitating engaging, purposeful, and enriching activities for our residents – helping them stay active, social, and happy.

✨ About the role:

20 hours per week (mainly weekends – so you’ll need to be available on Saturdays and Sundays)

Supporting residents with activities that encourage creativity, wellbeing, and fun

Helping to plan, organise, and deliver group sessions and one-to-one activities

Building meaningful relationships with residents, families, and staff

Empathetic and caring nature

Outgoing, positive, and approachable personality

Confidence to lead activities and encourage participation

Creative ideas for activities that bring joy and purpose

Weekend availability is essential

Baking, Belonging & Beautiful Scones!

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked scones wafting through the halls — and this week, our wonderful ladies from the Baking Club treated everyone to a truly special afternoon! 💕

With aprons tied and smiles all around, they rolled, mixed, laughed, and baked the fluffiest, most delightful scones just in time for our afternoon tea!

But this activity was about so much more than baking.

Let's chat about why purposeful activities matter...
Activities like this give our residents something deeply meaningful to look forward to a sense of purpose, creativity, and connection. Each person has a role to play, whether it’s measuring ingredients, stirring the dough, setting the table, or taste-testing (the most important job of all!). When we create with purpose, we belong with purpose.

Being part of something & seeing a task through from start to finish, helps our residents feel valued and engaged. The pride on their faces as they served warm scones to their fellow residents was priceless.

🌱 Walton Park Gardening Club – A Flourishing Finale! 🌱

As autumn begins to creep in, our wonderful Gardening Club has come to a successful end for the season. Our very own Garden Club Champion has been proudly showing off one of his precious crops.

We’re especially excited to use these freshly harvested tomatoes and herbs as the star ingredients for our upcoming celebration of National Cheesy Pizza Day on 5th September. What better way to enjoy the fruits of our labour than with a slice of cheesy, tomato-topped goodness?

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Gardening Club this year – your green fingers have made Walton Park bloom beautifully!

2025: Following our 2023 refurbishment, Walton Park now has a fresh, modern look — sleek new finishes, an inviting entrance, and spaces that reflect today’s standards of comfort and style. But while the exterior has transformed, the heart of Walton Park has never changed.
