FOCUS! Though it’s your most powerful tool, It’s likely that your mobile device is your biggest distraction! Brands and Media spend billions vying for your attention. Instead, hit your DO NOT DISTURB button on your phone for ONLY TWO HOURS and:
-Do that thing you have been meaning to do
-Get two hours of deep focus work done
-Go for a walk/exercise and even leave your phone at home!
-Spend some quality time with someone
-Do something creative
-Have a nap

Do it once, then do it another time and see how freeing it feels.

What other things could you do instead of being two hours on your mobile device?

I’m part-way through a 12 week program. Not the one you are thinking! This is a recovery of the ARTIST! book The Artists Way focusses on brining one’s inner creator back to life. It all sounded a little too artsy fartsy to me, but it’s been a lot of fun. The book prescribes “artists dates”. An artist date is a way to devote time to your creative self. It should be done solo, and the time is just for you. Julia Cameron, the author of The Artist's Way, describes them as assigned play. So far I’ve gone to comedy shows, rock gigs antique shops and here is a recent shot of my visit to museum where I visited the First Australians exhibition. Love First Australian Art.

Why not take yourself on an artists date?

The power of Hot/Cold exposure.

I have been doing Hot/Cold exposure for over a decade and coming from a hot climate, it’s not all that common. Europeans really do this kind of therapy best. Today I went to the .spa in Budapest and I had the best Hot/Cold therapy experiences of my life.

I can’t put in to words the sheer scale of this place. A maze of hot baths, after cold baths, after steam room, after sauna and so on. It took us 3 hours to try even 75% of the facilities.
In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Way before and were online sensations on the topic, Hungarians have been coming to places like this to feel great.

After those three hours, I felt like a had had my soul dry cleaned. Just an incredible

- The Four Ageements by 4.5/5. In The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. The Four Agreements are: Be Impeccable With Your Word, Don't Take Anything Personally, Don't Make Assumptions, Always Do Your Best.

You probably think of someone being stoic as having a stanch, unemotional demeanour, but have you heard of this ancient philosophy as a daily practice for a better life?

Stoicism, or Stoic philosophy, is a philosophy of personal ethics and a methodology for seeking practical wisdom in life. A key principle of the ancient Stoics was the belief that we don’t react to events; we react to our judgments about them, and the judgments are up to us. They also advised that we should not worry about things beyond our control as everything in life can be divided into two categories – things that are up to us and things that are not.

“Stoicism is not so much an ethic as it is a paradoxical recipe for happiness.”

Paul Veyne, Historian

This one is for me, but it might be for you too. Had a rough day, week, or even month? When I have disruptions to my ideal schedule (moving 🏡 this time), it goes to 💩 pretty fast.
Good habits are quickly replaced by undesirable habits, it spirals from there and one month becomes three!

The good news is that you can start again tomorrow, but what is most important is that you keep going the day after that and the week after that and the month after that. It’s never going to be perfect, but keep going.

KEEP GOING

Week 10 of is all about the cost of expensive things. Ask yourself:

Do I really need these things I work so hard for?
•Where am I at loudmouth?
•Can I test my own opinions before trusting them?
•Am I protecting my time and attention?
•Does my social circle make me better or worse?
•Who is my role model and why?
•Where have I traded away freedom and how can I get it back?

Boot Camp For The Brain by . 4/5

I have been a follower of Derren for about 15 years, initially learning so much from him on NLP. I enjoyed how this book shows the inherent flaws of our minds abs ideas for being aware of them, while also celebrating the wonder of grey matter.

Derren gets into your brain...and reveals how to make it work better.

Do you ever make mistakes? Do you ever lose your temper and then immediately regret it? Are you impulsive? Do you make great plans which you fail to act on? Do you ever behave irrationally?

Don’t worry, it’s not your fault. Your brain is to blame. Extraordinary though it is, your brain is riddled with biases, blind spots and other cognitive weaknesses which can lead you seriously astray. But Derren Brown’s Boot Camp will help you tame your errant brain and fundamentally change the way you think.
