Next Sat some of us are getting together to do the Darkness into Light dawn walk on Clapham Common in aid of Su***de Prevention and a v early session straight after in usual spot on Wandsworth Common..come and join us in what should be a really nice event followed by an early morning workout!

I’ve been working with Sujay since January with the goal of getting him back into the habit and discipline of exercising regularly, with the knock-on health benefits of keeping his body composition within healthy ranges for his age.
He’s lucky in that he’s a naturally fit, flexible and lean guy so the margins for progress are quite small yet he’s aware that being this way can make you a little complacent about your health and so he wanted to take some action.

In every session we work on some of the key components of physical fitness such as improving his mobility, core and abdominal strength, improving his cardiovascular endurance and stamina with short intervals of repeatable work, while also working on building strength across the main functional movement patterns of Squatting, Bending, Pushing, Pulling and Lunging.
We mix sessions up between bodyweight and resistance-based exercises as well as Boxing for cardio, and Plyometrics so we’re moving his heart rate through all its zones with the goal of constantly burning energy (calories) while simultaneously building strength in the same session.

Having a Personal Trainer keeps Sujay accountable so that he stays focused on the work that needs to be done to reach his health goals, even though his job requires him to be online all the time.

I’ve been training Toby for about 5 months now and he is making great strides in terms of both his strength and general fitness gains. He started with a 4-week trial back in October but now signs up every month for PT as we’ve been able to firstly get him moving a lot better than he was but also help him make speedy progress in terms of the weight he can lift across the 6 main movement patterns. (One priority in his consultation was to build some strength).

Part of the reason for this is down to him joining the gym near his work and following a programme I made for him that compliments what we do together, so he gets both frequency and volume across a range of exercises targeting both his upper & lower body every week.
We also work on his mobility & cardiovascular fitness in every session as he’s conscious of his health especially with 2 very young kids and a busy desk bound job. He’s a great listener and always has a question or two on how to push himself further the fitter he gets – a pleasure to work with!

I’m always looking for more men who are like myself and Toby, have young kids and a generally busy life who want to take care of both their health & fitness and feel they don’t have the time to do so. Lifting some tin as they say can be both enjoyable and mindful creating the space to get out of your head and into your body for an hour or two each week while also building that elusive strength we all need to live a full life!

I've been working with Amit for about 6 weeks now, and he's making great progress!

In our initial consultation and assessment session it was clear he had one v clear health & fitness priority - to simply be a healthy Dad & Husband, so he could stave off common diseases like heart disease, Stroke etc and live a full life!

So in every 1 hour session I make sure he covers the basics of great and functional health by working on his (in order):
1. Mobility
2. Cardio
3. Muscular strength & Endurance
4. Core & Abs
5. Ability to do work at different intensities and heart rates

He has a busy corporate job and three kids, so we train in his back garden usually between work calls for convenience!

He wants to do more sessions but its not possible at the moment so he works really hard for 60 mins 1-2 times per week with me and completes a short home programme i've given him also (and fits in 1-2 5k runs most weeks).

He could easily just do his runs every week for Cardio, but understands he also needs to be able to move well and stay strong as he ages, so he can't neglect his mobility, strength and core work.

And having someone on his shoulder pushing him while taking the thinking out of his training helps him focus solely on his health and fitness for that one or two hours per week.

Looking forward to watching him progress further in the New Year!
