Since I moved to Wantage, I love seeking out the gems of places around this town. Today's is literary a gem as the crystal shop is full of amazing crystals and treasures. Run by the local lovely person Jackie, you might have seen her wrapped up on her market stall in the main square in previous years but now has a warm and inviting shop.

Jackie is so knowledgeable about the deeper connections of the crystals. Today while I was browsing she helped a teenager choose a bracelet to help her keep calm in the upcoming exams. She also gave tips to the student including to use her breathe to keep her brain oxygenated and avoid panic or 'freezing' in the examination room.

You can find the Crystaljak in The Arbery Arcade as you walk from the Portway carpark, with her shop window always a joy and seasonal.

Happy Bank Holiday Monday! Hope you have enjoyed some well deserved down time. No yoga today but classes as usual tomorrow for rest of week.

Find yourself a moment or right now to give yourself and your breathing a Caring moment with this simple breath exercise like a hug of calm.

Caring Breath Pranayama
Sit comfortably tall, exhale as lift your right hand, gazing down as you place onto your opposite shoulder.
Take a few breaths, note the warmth and weight of your hand.
Slowly inhale as you lift and open out hand to Right with bent elbow in line with shoulder joint. Your gaze follows the movement.
Pause here. Return slowly, hand to shoulder as you exhale, pause
and repeat 7 times.
Do same with left arm and if you can close eyes but head follows hand.
Continue with both hands moving in unison, keeping your head still.
Move your hands over your heart as breath gently returns to your natural rhythm.

Add the intention of collecting prana or energy/ life force into open palm, and draw that to yourself as settle into your natural breath. Maybe stay a little longer, keep your mind connected with your breathing and give your headspace a little longer before getting back to your day off or your work schedule?

A fellow PA spotted one of the Building Surveyors was slurring his speech and very pale and slumping over his desk. Luckily Pauline had just completed her first aid course so realised he was having a stroke. She drove him straight to the JR and saved his life. Worth us all reminding ourselves of the The FAST acronym (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) is a test to quickly identify the three most common signs of stroke.

FAST:
Face weakness: Can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped?
Arm weakness: Can the person raise both arms fully and keep them there?
Speech problems: Can the person speak clearly and understand what you say? Is their speech slurred
Time to call 999: if you see any one of these signs.

Hard to remember that 25 years ago I did work in an office and definitely no colourful yoga pants or jeans allowed but did sneak in some flamboyant shirts with all the grey suits and ties around me!

🧘 Thank you to all my new students bravely starting yoga! 🧘‍♀️

It’s been such a treat introducing beginners to the joy of moving & breathing with yoga. Also easing lapsed folk to rekindle muscle memory and find the inner calm again!

If you’re a beginner why not join them? The smaller class in Letcombe Regis and Wantage are prefect with fellow NewBees.

Big to Maria for modelling and the Wednesday groups warriors Sun and V2!

My is the Down to Earth Community Cafe which has lovely healthy lunches and tempting cakes. I managed to swerve the Pistachio or blueberry cakes but did have a light fluffy cheese scone with a cappuccino! If folk need a little help they have a token bowl to help stretch budgets. I met a delightful Grandma with two wonderfully well behaved grandkids, the little boy happy to share their table with me. The blueberry cake was demolished with speed and joy!

You can find the Cafe and Make Space in The Old Stables in Stirling Close in Wantage. Press the big green button on the main entrance to open the front door, which I missed and nearly wandered into the kitchen. The staff couldn't be more friendly. Well worth a visit.

What are you growing in your garden? This week we celebrate our gardens and allotments with . Are you an enthusiastic meddlar like myself or a dedicated gardener? I love the repeat favourites that give back each year: my raspberries, rhubarb and strawberries and all the perennials.

While more a building site I planted out my tulip bulbs to stretch across a bit of colour. They look a bit mad so will plant in circles together elsewhere. The bare patch we have weeded, raked and watered hoping a new stripe of wild flowers will bring some colour !

Really pleased my rhubarb is thriving in its new home. It always provided fruit but up against the fence in a small shaded garden it was a bit limp and sorrowful looking. Look at it now! My love rhubarb with ginger and touch of honey and I must find that rhubarb cake recipe!

Gardening is a lot to do with patience, definitely a quality that can help us in yoga. And how gently nurturing ourselves with yoga is a lot like watering and feeding our plants and flowers.

Ready to let go of your week? Exchange of Air really opens up your breathing and the noisy sigh helps you let go of all that stuff in your head. Let go and feel lighter for the weekend?
Stand comfortably wide, lifting arms out and upwards helps bring in your deeper breath as you inhale through your nose, and then fall forward and float arms down to push out your breath as a noisy sigh!

Great to see top athletes, the Polo players stretching quads & back bending in . Excellent release to horse mastery squeezing as they ride. They’ve added stretchy bands across above their knees to work harder!

Fancy trying bridge pose yourself? Give your body a good workout with relaxation & breath work either:-
