🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Dahlia – A Heart of Gold at Westgate House Care Centre, Ware 🌟

With over 32 years of nursing experience and 19 years at Westgate Healthcare, Dahlia, our Senior RGN, brings compassion, dedication, and expertise to every resident she cares for, especially on our Dementia Unit. A natural mentor and leader, she has guided countless nurses and continues to make Westgate House Care Centre feel like home for both staff and residents.

We are incredibly proud to have Dahlia as part of the Westgate family. Her dedication, compassion and leadership continue to uplift everyone around her. Thank you, Dahlia, for everything you do.

Our residents took part in a heartwarming Arts in Care Homes Event, showcasing their incredible talents. From painting to crafts, their beautiful work was proudly displayed in an exhibition attended by families and staff. A joyful celebration of creativity, connection, and community!

🧠 Subtle changes in smell, sleep, humour, or attention can be some of the earliest signs of dementia. Spotting them early helps carers support their loved ones and seek advice sooner.

- Trouble recognising familiar scents 👃
- Difficulty understanding jokes or sarcasm 😂
- Frequent zoning out or loss of focus 👀
- Changes in sleep patterns 💤

Being aware of these early signs helps carers notice when further assessment may be needed.
