Dogs are experts at hiding discomfort 💡
Instinct tells them to keep moving, keep playing, keep up with their humans, even when something hurts.
👉 Chasing the ball ≠ pain free
👉 Excitement + adrenaline can temporarily mask pain
👉 Many dogs only show subtle signs after an injury has progressed
Before a diagnosis we often hear things like:
• “He’s just slowing down with age”
• “She only limps after big walks”
• “He’s stiff but once he warms up, he’s fine”
Early intervention isn’t about stopping their fun, it’s about keeping your dog comfortable, mobile, and doing what they love for longer
So if your dog is:
✔ Slower to get up
✔ Stiffer after rest
✔ Less jumpy than before
✔ Changing how they run, sit, or lie down
…it’s definitely worth a closer look.
