I often talk about the importance of being able to balance and practice balancing postures in almost every yoga and qi gong practice. If you’d like to improve your balance a regular practice could really help 🦩 🧘‍♀️

Researchers in Brazil found that those who couldn't stand on one leg for 10 seconds were 84 per cent more likely to die within the next decade than those who completed the exercise.

Here's a peek into just a few of the recordings that have made their way into the lesson library over the last couple of weeks. Last week we celebrated 200+ recordings of lessons and workshops in the members lesson library.

Following the locked down festive season of 2020, the pressure is on to make Christmas 2021 bigger than ever, but how do you navigate the festive season when you have a chronic pain condition? Join a conversation with Lyndsey Hayes and Caroline Burwood who between them have decades of experience with chronic pain as they review their top tips to help you enjoy the festive season.

Lyndsey Hayes:
Following a lower back injury over 20 years ago resulting in years of chronic back pain, Lyndsey found relief and ultimately resolution through yin yoga (which she now teaches). She now helps others recovering from back pain through her holistic back pain recovery programme, Get Your Life Back. Lyndsey is a member of Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association (SIRPA) and also SIRPA trained.

Caroline Burwood:
Caroline has supported her husband’s journey with chronic pain for a decade. Professionally she has worked in Healthcare for 16 years, but found gaps in her own knowledge within the Healthcare System. She realised that if she worked in the system yet experienced difficulties, how were others meant to navigate their way? Caroline wants to share her learnings and experiences to help others through their chronic pain journeys.

Moving more, on a regular basis, can help us to stay more mobile, improve our balance, strength and overall health and well being. If you've got out of the habit of a regular movement practice over the summer, why not come and re-start in September? I run live lessons three times a week, with a mix of gentle and safe movements taken from yin yoga, yin and yang yoga, qi gong, therapeutic rehabilitation movements for back pain, along with acupressure, breathwork and meditation practices. Hosting the fourth in my workshop series this week.

Serene Sleep: Using Yoga and Acupressure to Sleep Better

I will be explaining how some of the tools we can learn in our yoga practice can be helpful for us learning how to relax more and therefore sleep better. I’ll also be introducing you to an acupressure sequence that can be helpful for better sleep when practiced regularly.

The workshop will finish with an opportunity to practice a combined sequence of breathwork, acupressure and restorative yoga with guided yoga nidra.
