TRAUMA-SENSITIVE YOGA 11 July
Sadly, trauma is part of the human experience. It has many causes and many ways it shows up in our lives. There is a spectrum of severity, but it touches us all. It alters our nervous systems, our feeling of being ‘safe’ in our minds and bodies, impacting how fully we can live.
Trauma isn’t desirable but it is so common its normal. Trauma can makes us feel ashamed even though it’s not something to feel ashamed of. While trauma is often created by the actions of another, and so it’s not our fault, however we can take full responsibility for our healing and our flourishing. To own our actions and be our best selves.
Nature can be a wonderful way to lift us from difficult feelings into a place of joy. I took this picture on a joyful sunset cruise around the Farne Islands with a group of wonderful women from the Amble Women’s Workshop. We were treated to calm blue waters, the sights and sounds of thousands of seabirds, fluffy chicks, seals, puffins, the golden orb of the sinking sun and the grand finale, a pod of playful dolphins putting on a show for us.
I’m still breathing it in and feeling its nourishment as I continue to heal, grow, learn and share.
Tomorrow I’m offering my monthly drop-in TRAUMA-SENSITIVE YOGA ONLINE on Zoom 11 am - 12.15 pm.
We can draw on experiences of nourishment, even fleeting ones, to support us as we find feelings of inner safety as a foundation for healing. Finding the edges of the jigsaw before filling the inner pieces. Moving with Yoga in service of re-wiring our nervous system and building greater states of resilience.
If you would like to come and join me, ‘pm’ your email or email direct and I'll send you the zoom details. It's £7 or £5 concessions, but no one turned away through lack of funds.
I hope to see some of you soon.
