๐๐ฑ
Firework season is comingโฆ and while we might love the sparkle in the sky, many of our dogs find this time of year terrifying.
The sudden bangs, the bright flashes, and changes in vibration can send even the calmest dog into total panic.
Itโs so hard to watch and feel like you can't help isnโt it?
The shaking, panting, pacing, hiding....
But nature has beautiful ways to help. ๐ฑ
Essential oils, when offered gently and respectfully, can change how a dog feels in their body, helping them move from feeling fearful to calm and feeling more safe.
When a dog inhales an essential oil, aromatic molecules travel straight to the limbic brain, the emotional centre that controls breathing, heart rate, and hormones.
This means scent can literally shift physiology.
And when we sit with them, breathing the same oils, something shifts in us, too.
Our heart rate slows, our breath deepens, and they feel our steadiness and presence. ๐
Here are three plant allies that can make a world of difference:
๐ณ Frankincense โ Sacred and grounding. It slows the breath, settles trembling, and brings a deep sense of peace.
๐ฟ Valerian Root โ Earthy, strong, and deeply relaxing. Perfect for dogs who pace or canโt settle when the noise starts.
๐น Rose Hydrosol โ Gentle and heart-softening. A comforting mist that helps ease tension and restore emotional balance after the fireworks end.
๐ซ Tip: Offer one aromatic at a time. Let your dog choose. Theyโll approach what they need and turn away from what they donโt. Choice and listening is an essential ingredient.
This year, Iโve put together a little Calm Companion Kit featuring these beautiful aromatics to help your dog (and you) through the season with more peace, connection, and ease.
Iโll pop the link in the comments below. ๐
