We’ve been making the most of the beautiful sunshine and warm weather here at Henford ☀️

A lovely trip to the garden centre gave us the chance to enjoy a peaceful walk around the lake followed by a cuppa and a delicious tea cake. We also had a browse in the shop before heading back to relax and soak up the sunshine in our own beautiful garden 🌸🌿

We are so lucky to be surrounded by a beautiful garden and an even more beautiful countryside here at Henford 🥰

🍀 St Patrick’s Day celebrations 🍀

What a wonderful couple of days we’ve had!

Yesterday we were treated to lively Irish music by David Moss, featuring a fiddle and the beautiful sounds of an Irish bouzouki! We sang, clapped and even danced along together 💚

The celebrations continued today with smiles all around followed by our gardening club where we got our hands dirty planting our very own potatoes 🥔🌱

A fantastic time shared by all - full of music, laughter and community spirit! ☘️

On Saturday, we were delighted to welcome the Warminster Air Cadets to Henford for their very first visit ✈️

Intergenerational activities like this are incredibly special as they bring younger and older generations together to create meaningful moments, it encourages conversation and it helps build connections that benefit everyone involved. ☺️

Our residents truly enjoy sharing stories, experiences and laughter with younger visitors, while the cadets gain the chance to learn from and connect with a generation full of wisdom and life experience. 🤍

The air cadets spent time chatting with our residents, listening to their stories and sharing their own experiences. The room was filled with smiles and wonderful conversations! At the end of the visit, many of our residents shared how much they enjoyed the afternoon. Several told us they had a fantastic time talking with the cadets and loved getting to know them. It was clear just how much these interactions meant to everyone involved.

A huge thank you to the 2238 - Warminstersquadron ATC for spending time with us! We are already looking forward to welcoming them back and continuing this fantastic partnership in the future 💙 and we are really excited to play some games!☺️

What a lovely start to March we have had here at Henford! 🌷

Here’s some clips of our wonderful residents keeping busy with gardening club, getting creative with pottery, enjoying some special animal visits, a bit of friendly competition with skittles and even being treated to some fantastic musical performances. 🎶

Our gentleman’s club enjoyed a fantastic trip to the pub this week! 🍻

The men relaxed with a pint at George Inn Longbridge Deverill while watching the horse racing, which brought plenty of excitement and friendly discussion as everyone chose their favourites. 🏇

The afternoon was filled with great conversation, laughter and lots of reminiscing about life experiences, past trips to the pub and memories from years gone by. 🥰

Creating a space like our Gentleman’s Club is so important, giving the men the chance to spend time together, share stories and enjoy familiar pastimes in great company.

A lovely outing enjoyed by all and we’re already looking forward to the next one! 🍺

Join us for an informative event focused on planning for later life. This event will add onto our last financial planning event by covering more topics. ☺️

Our session will cover important topics including wills, trusts, power of attorney, sideways disinheritance and financial planning to help protect your future and support your loved ones.

What a lovely Monday we have had at Henford 💐

We started the day with our much loved baby & toddler group, where our residents watched the little ones play and make gifts for their mums for Mothering Sunday 🥰 What a lovely morning full of intergenerational joy! Of course, our resident’s also enjoyed making crafts for their loved ones as well 💖

We then got into the Easter spirit and made some Easter nests with delicious mini eggs!! 🐣 We then settled down for the afternoon with some word wheels on the magic table to stimulate our brains…which then turned into a sing along by popular request of our lovely residents 🥰

🐣 Join us for iur Easter Celebration! 🐰

We’re looking forward to a fun-filled Easter celebration at our Henford House! There will be plenty to enjoy including a children’s Easter egg hunt, colouring competition, cake sale, and an exciting raffle. ☺️

It’s a lovely opportunity for families and the community to come together to enjoy some treats and celebrate Easter with us. We hope to see you there! 🌷

Skittles club! 🎳

Fridays in Henford only mean one thing… skittles club! Our residents look forward to it all week and some even say once a week just isn’t enough! 🥰

Skittles is not only great fun but it also helps support balance, coordination and gentle physical movement. Rolling the ball, aiming for the pins and celebrating each other’s scores all help keep minds active and bodies moving. It’s also a wonderful way to build confidence, concentration and friendly competition. ☺️

One of the best things about our skittles club is that it’s accessible for everyone. Whether standing, seated or with a little support, everyone can join in and enjoy the game at their own pace. It’s not about knocking down every pin - it’s about sharing laughter, encouragement and time together. 💛

The room is always filled with cheers, smiles and plenty of team spirit, making it a highlight of the week for so many of our residents. 🎉

We’re already counting down the days until next Friday! 😊

Henford had some very special visitors today as our residents were delighted to welcome a group of wonderful furry friends 🐐🐰🐹

We were greeted by a cheeky goat, a fluffy rabbit and some adorable guinea pigs who came along to spend time with everyone 💖 They brought lots of smiles, laughter and cuddles!

Animal visits are always a favourite activity for many of our residents. They spark happy memories and create loving moments for everyone involved. It was wonderful to see residents enjoying the chance to stroke, hold and interact with them 🥰

Henford was filled with joy and it’s moments like these that truly brighten our day and bring so much happiness to our home ✨

🥇 Castle Lodge Celebrates Outstanding CQC Rating 🥇

The team at Castle Lodge Independent Hospital in Sutton, are celebrating as they passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating - the best possible rating.

The CQC report found that all staff knew their residents exceptionally well and were dedicated and driven to offering them the best possible care, supported them to maintain their independence and retain control of decision-making. The report praised the hospital for promoting a culture where people were truly respected, their dignity protected, where they were valued as individuals and empowered as partners in their own care.

A patient shared: “The staff are lovely and kind, they go out of their way to help me”.

To mark the occasion, our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, visited Castle Lodge to congratulate everyone and award each member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement.

🍺 Cheers! Hilton Park Opens a Bar for Residents 🍹

Colleagues at Hilton Park Care Home in have come up with the genius idea of creating their own bar for their residents. What could possibly be better than a space within the home where residents can kick back, relax and enjoy a pint and a chat, exactly as if they were down at their local.

The concept for the bar came from the team who recognised the value of creating a pub-style space for residents who may not want to go out but who might still like to experience a pub setting. The team brought the idea to life, transforming the lounge into a warm and inviting space.

Staff and residents proudly celebrated the launch of the new Hilton Lounge Bar with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Residents’ Ambassadors John and Beverley and live music from vocalist, Luan.

Such a fantastic idea! 👏

⭐ Customer Satisfaction Awards Finalist ⭐

Our double award-winning Customer Experience team has been shortlisted for another national award - this time in the hotly-contested ‘Best Customer Satisfaction Strategy’ category in the 2026 UK Customer Satisfaction Awards.

Our annual ‘Tell Barchester’ survey collates feedback from residents and patients, and their loved ones. Every single piece of feedback given is considered and acted upon. Tell Barchester was entered into the awards alongside survey provider CustomerSure and the entry has successfully made the grade.

The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane hotel in March.

⛰️ 15 Mile Hike for Charity 🏃

On February 28th, a team of eight colleagues from Chester Court Care Home in will be tackling a 15-mile hike to raise money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Laura Tindle is normally the General Manager at Chester Court, but on February 28th she will be donning her walking boots and leading her team using sheer grit and determination on a 15-mile hike from sister home Bedewell Grange Care Home - Barchester Healthcare in back to Chester Court in Bedlington, in order to raise funds for the Foundation.

No strangers to a charity challenge, the team at Chester Court has been training hard.

🏆 Tixover House Celebrates Outstanding CQC Rating 🏆

We’re excited to share that Tixover House Care Home in passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating - the best possible rating.

The CQC report found that the care staff knew their residents well and were dedicated and driven to offering them the best possible care, going above and beyond to do so.

Residents were also very complimentary about life at the home: “This is like home from home for me. I am happy and comfortable here and there is nothing that could be done better for me. I have got everything I need.”

To mark the occasion, our CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, visited Tixover House to congratulate everyone and award each member of staff a £500 voucher to celebrate their achievement.

👏 Barchester’s Charitable Foundation: Record-breaking 25th Anniversary Year 👏

We’re thrilled to share that Barchester’s Charitable Foundation marked its 25th anniversary with a record-breaking £424,000 raised in 2025 – the highest in its history.

Thanks to the incredible support of colleagues, supporters and corporate partners, the funding helped 262 small community groups and charities, as well as 123 individuals.

The vast majority of grants for disabled and older individuals are for mobility aids such as mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and specialist walkers, enabling people to get out and about in their local community and to take part in social activities. This type of help can be transformative to people’s day-to-day life and wellbeing, as well as giving back independence and freedom.

Grants to small community groups and local charities have been more varied, funding a broad range of activities, outings, transport, equipment and materials for older people and adults with disabilities and mental health challenges. The projects cover a very wide variety of social and educational activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, woodwork, exercise, yoga, music, sewing, theatre and dance.
