These flowers weren’t bought for the person who received them.
Here at Mayfield Homecare, we see acts of kindness every day, but this one really warmed our hearts.
One of our wonderful clients, who has been through a lot, and who we all have a huge amount of respect for, decided to buy herself some flowers to cheer herself up on a difficult day.
What she didn’t realise was that her also lovely sister had the exact same idea and surprised her with a beautiful bunch of flowers that very same day.
Now most people might simply enjoy having two bunches of flowers, but not this incredible lady.
Instead, she turned to our care team member and said:
“Please give these to your next client.”
And that’s exactly what happened.
Her next visit was to a lovely client who is 99 years young, who was feeling a little under the weather that day. When our care team member handed her, it brought a smile to her face.
When we asked our carer how she was, she simply said:
“She was a little unwell when I arrived, but the flowers really made her smile.”
A simple act of kindness, passed from one person to another
That’s the true meaning of paying it forward.
At Mayfield Homecare, we are incredibly proud not only of our caring and compassionate team, but also of the wonderful clients who make moments like this possible every single day.
Sometimes the smallest gestures can mean the most.
Let’s all try to pay a little kindness forward when the opportunity arises
