Meet Karen – or as we like to call her, KO

Why KO? Because it’s her initials BUT she’s also a knockout member of our care team!

Karen is one of the rare few at Mayfield with her own theme tune – "K-O, let’s go!" – and for good reason. This December, Karen will be celebrating an incredible 25 years with Mayfield – just a cheeky quarter of a century of care, compassion, and commitment.

KO is now a vital part of our office team, handling everything from CQC compliance to training and (currently) recruitment – and somehow still managing to make it all look effortless.

Recently, one of our clients shared:
🗣️ “Karen came to see me and she was lovely, caring and superb.”
And honestly… we couldn’t agree more.

Thank you for everything you’ve done (and continue to do), Karen.

Danny’s out of office is on, he is away for the week, which hopefully means the office should be a little calmer this week

The team have told him to switch off for the week, they are hoping he has no internet as it will be good for him (them).

For those that meet Danny, it’s not long before he will have you engaged (talking at you) in a conversation about how good Mayfield Homecare are, his pride for the team and his love of what they do, so it will be good for him to go and switch off.

He has taken his favourite T-Shirt with him though

We Have a Winner!

Thank you to everyone who took part in our “Guess How Many Sweets Are in the Jar” competition, at Warrington Wellbeing Festival and Disability Awareness Day, we had some close guesses!

We can now reveal there were 243 sweets in the jar…

And the winner is… Bodi The Wellbeing Woman - with a guess of 240 – just 3 off!
Even more impressive, Bodi’s guess was the very first guess we received!

Congratulations, Bodi! You now have 48 hours to claim your fantastic prize of either:

All 243 sweets plus a £10 gift voucher of your choice (maybe for a sweet shop?)

OR

A week’s free homecare (up to 2.5 hours)

Tough choice… sweet treats or sweet support?

Will the winner come forward? and what will they pick?

Will we have a rollover?

“Peace of Mind”

When Paul realised his dad, Bill, needed extra support, he turned to Mayfield Home Care.

“It’s a godsend knowing someone’s there with Dad,” Paul said. “I can breathe easier now.”

From gentle reminders to help with daily tasks, our carers make sure Bill is safe, comfortable — and not left playing with the heating again (he loves to keep us on our toes!).

For Paul, it’s not just about care. It’s about peace of mind, knowing his dad is in safe hands — and being able to take time for himself without worry.

We’re honoured to be part of their story. Thank you, Paul and Bill. ❤️

Team Member Spotlight, meet Barbara

Barbara joined us in February, and we honestly couldn’t be happier! When we met Barbara, we just knew she was going to be great. What we didn’t know was just how great she would be.

Barbara is naturally quiet and reserved, but when she’s with our clients, or sharing her feedback with us (which we LOVE)—she truly shines. Her thoughtful suggestions show just how much she cares about our clients, our team, and the future of Mayfield.

Recently, a client’s daughter reached out to say thank you. Her mum had been really apprehensive about receiving care, so we carefully checked Barbara’s availability to see if we could ease her in with just one familiar face. It worked beautifully. Her daughter told us:
“Everything is going so well… It’s the first time I’ve had the confidence to go away in years, knowing my mum is looked after.”

Barbara, thank you for everything you do—quietly, kindly, and consistently. We are so proud to have you on the team 💙

Let us introduce you to Tony, one of our most recognisable clients, Tony popped down to see us at Warrington Disability Awareness Day at Walton Gardens yesterday, mainly for one of our daft ‘Mayfield Homecare’ cupcakes, a go on our ridiculous games, and of course, to cause a bit of mischief.

He absolutely smashed our wire loop game, and had a pretty decent guess at the sweet jar too — though we’re keeping our poker faces until Wednesday when the winner will be announced!

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of supporting Tony for around 10 years now. He has additional needs, and we cover his weekend visits. During the week, he’s looked after by the fantastic team at Dimensions, a care company that shares our ethos and genuinely loves what they do. It’s a proper team effort, and we love working alongside other providers who care as much as we do.

At Mayfield, we believe care should always fit you. Whether you need just an hour a week or 20, we’ll build a bespoke care package tailored to your needs.

So if you’re unsure what kind of support might help, give us a ring. We’ll talk it through with you.

Word on the street was that two Dragons had recently invested in a local business, so this week Danny headed down to see if he could catch Peter Jones or Steven Bartlett in action…

Fortunately, neither were in the office but Danny did get to spend some time with the main man himself, Ross Laing.

They chatted all things business, growth, reputation, recruitment, people management, and most importantly, what it means to run a business that’s doing real good in the world.

Danny walked away with a massive box of socks from the amazing team at Standoutsocks — a social enterprise that creates jobs for people with learning disabilities.

Ross walked away with zero hours of homecare.
Some people are just better at business than others.

But Danny left feeling great — buying one, empowering many. 💪🧦

Give them a follow and check out their incredible work: Standoutsocks

Yellow Heat-Health Alert Issued for the North West 🌞
Effective: Today 11:00am – 15th July, 10:00am

The Met Office and UK Health Security Agency have issued a YELLOW warning for high temperatures across our area. At Mayfield, we are taking this seriously and are working to protect the health of our clients, care team and wider community.

☀️ What this means:
Extreme heat can be dangerous, especially for:
✅ Older adults (65+)
✅ People with existing health conditions
✅ Babies and young children
✅ Those living alone or in warm indoor spaces

💧 Top Tips for Everyone:
✔ Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty
✔ Stay in the shade or indoors during peak hours (11am–3pm)
✔ Wear loose, cool clothing
✔ Close curtains and open windows when safe
✔ Check in on vulnerable friends, family or neighbours

📲 For more advice, visit:

🔗 Warrington Council: https://www.warrington.gov.uk/summer

Let’s all take simple steps to keep safe and well. If any clients or carers have concerns, please contact the office – we’re here to help.

Our team wont be expected to wear tunics this weekend, so, please note that they will be wearing something cool, but they will be wearing their ID badges

Stay cool, stay safe 💙

Trust. Care. Choice. 💜

We’re incredibly proud to share this heartfelt feedback from a family who made the decision to stay with Mayfield Home care, even after changes to their funding options.

At Mayfield, we believe care should feel like an extension of family — built on trust, genuine connection, and going the extra mile every single day.

Thank you to Lou for your kind words and continued support. And to anyone navigating changes in care funding or looking for a provider who truly listens — we’re here for you.
