At Dad Matters Warrington we support new and expecting dads have the best possible relationship with their baby and family.

We take on referrals for 1-1 support to help dads understand what their baby needs from them and how they can improve their parent-infant relationship. We support dads with their mental health through peer support. We also give dad a hand in accessing wider services to continue support for them and their family.

On top of this we have several groups a month for dad to attend with little one and speak to other dads, our local coordinator and our brilliant volunteers.

If you need support you can self-refer or share this with someone you think may require some help:

“The support has been amazing, honestly from where I was at when I first contacted you to where I am now is worlds apart. My view and the way I feel about everything is totally different”
- One of our dads who got support for developing his bond with baby and support with his own mental health.

Did you know that there is research that has shown that dads of children from babies to 12 years old experienced great joy when they read to their children. It gave them the opportunity to cuddle up and have some precious bonding time...🧠💫

We had a great time yesterday evening chatting to Tom Dore about his neonatal journey with his daughter Taiya. Tom is now taking on the enormous and inspiring challenge of running 7 marathons in 7 days to raise money for Warrington Hospitals neonatal unit.

Tom and I spoke about his experiences of being a new dad with a baby in the neonatal unit, adjusting to life at this time, then seeing his daughter battle through her early days and go on to flourish.

Tom is raising money for Warrington Neonatal unit following the support he received from their team during an exceptionally difficult time. Tom told me how much the support from the staff helped, by simply asking "How are you, Dad?"

Tom's challenge is to raise £5000 for the neonatal unit. We at Dad Matters Warrington and Halton have previously donated tonie boxes to the unit and have worked closely with the staff who keep the unit running supporting the families.

We will be releasing a full blog post later this week about Tom's journey and his upcoming challenge.

Tom is busy training and will be tackling the marathons on 23rd May, you can donate to support here:

Happy 2nd Birthday to the Living Well Hub Warrington 🎉

It's amazing to have such a brilliant place in the Town Centre that allows services to speak to and support Warrington's residents directly.

Since we started doing outreach and drop-i s at the hub we've been welcomed and supported by the fantastic staff and volunteers that deliver a great service to the town.

For us working alongside midwives, health visitors and other services all under one roof on a weekly basis has been invaluable to Dad Matters in Warrington.

We're excited for the next year visiting the hub which will see us delivering a monthly Stay, Play and Chat session for dads alongside the team at More than Men - Help,Inspire,Grow as part of our Men's Afternoon of a Wednesday.
