Parents who have experienced the devastation of losing a baby before 24 weeks of pregnancy can apply for a certificate to have their grief recognised from today.

The government is launching a voluntary scheme to allow parents to record and receive a certificate to provide recognition of their loss. Parents can access this free service from 9am today (22 February 2024).

The certificate is available for either parent to access following a loss under 24 weeks since 1 September 2018. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have been living in England at the time of the loss.

The certificate is an official but not legal document.

The Government have said they will look to expand eligibility for certificates pre-dating September 2018 as soon as they can.

Click the link to request a certificate (we imagine demand will be high today so please be patient)

Your Maternity Unit is open 24/7. If you have any concerns about your baby or pregnancy this weekend, there is always someone there to give you advice. Do NOT wait until Monday, do NOT wait until your next appointment.

This is by no means an exhaustive list. Listen to your body, your baby and your instinct. If you have ANY symptoms that worry you, pick up the phone - day or night.

Measles cases are on the rise.

It’s one of the most contagious diseases. If one person has it, nearly everyone around them will catch it if not vaccinated.

To protect your child, make sure their vaccines are up to date.

Breastfeeding is a team effort - and support from those around you is key. What would you say to someone if they asked 'how can I help?' with breastfeeding?

Unfortunately we've had to cancel our session at The Red Lion Stockton Heath tomorrow (Thursday 18th January) as Rachael the librarian is really quite unwell.

Sorry everyone!

YOU could save a life. Just tag a pregnant friend. Honestly, it's that simple.

Not everyone knows about Kicks Count or how important baby movements are. So during your lunch break, afternoon tea break, toddler nap time or evening scroll chill time, tag anyone you know who's pregnant. Share to your Stories.

You could give one person that vital piece of information about how important baby movements are and how Maternity Units can be called 24/7 for advice. You could save someone from the heart ache of stillbirth.

Thank you 💗
