HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES TRIAL HERE!

In January 2026 we launched an activities trial to help us understand if having set activities on the same day each week was beneficial to our residents, visiting families, and also our team members. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this and have set up a survey to ask your opinion.

Your feedback will help us shape future planning and help ensure everyone’s experience of planned activities is that they are meaningful, enjoyable and fulfilling.

It only takes two minutes to share your thoughts; it is mostly a tick box answer. So if you could kindly find a little bit of time in your day to click on the link below and complete our survey it would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

We received this lovely message from Sara Humphreys, the vintage singer who performed for us on VE Day.

It’s a lovely testimony to our amazing team. It’s even more special when you know that Sara was a Care Home Assistant before she started to sing professionally full time. So she really does know the difference!

Thankyou Sara. This will mean a lot to our team members.

We commemorated the heroes of World War 2 and marked V.E. day on Friday 8th May, with a wonderful programme of musical celebrations.

We started off with Sarah Humphries, resplendent in vintage apparel as she took us through the 1940s songbook, finishing off with 'The White Cliffs of Dover' and 'We'll Meet Again'. Then CALDO brass brought us the Pomp and Circumstance of an orchestral concert as they performed The Dambusters March, Glenn Miller's Moonlight Serenade and Land of Hope and Glory.

All was topped and tailed with the V.E. Day Musical Jolley Trolley, laden with a selection of beautiful cakes and cloudy lemonade, accompanied by DJ Dave's Musical reminiscence and singalong. A really lovely day was had by all.

A massive thanks to the kitchen team and Teresa who helped make it all possible. Also the wonderful Sarah Humphries and the Caldo Brass Quintet. We’ll meet again on DDay.

Orchard were treated to the perfect ten last Thursday, as Jo Jingles delivered a faultless performance, that Torville and Dean would have been proud of.

An engaging musical exercise session which is both, multi generational and great fun for everyone involved. Three and four year olds joining eighty three and eighty four year olds, all united by a common love of music, dance, singing, laughter, togetherness, interaction and pure enjoyment. It's a clear ten out of ten.

Jo Jingles and our little pre-schoolers visit once a fortnight on Thursday afternoons. This has become a much loved regular activity for our residents, family and team members who so look forward to seeing the Jo Jingles and the children.

One of our gentlemen residents, a lifelong lover of English literature and history, has built a lovely bond with our Lead Assistant Psychologist Alina through books. With reading sessions, history discussions, and regularly refreshed collections bringing him comfort and familiarity.

Meanwhile, another of our lovely residents enjoys romance novels, coffee trips downstairs, and a good mooch with Alina and Elly, Whittle Hall’s Assistant Psychologist.

Books and reading have become such a beautiful way to connect, spark conversation, and share meaningful moments together.

Whittle Hall and Sunshine went interstellar yesterday afternoon when Helen Minshall gave us all an out of this world experience.

We counted down to 2 O'clock and then came lift off. Singing, dancing, tambourine and shaker playing, as Helen sang her heart out and played tantalising Trombone. A powerhouse performance full of firm favourites such as, Summer Holiday, Save Your Kisses for Me, YMCA and We'll Meet Again, had the audience dancing, singing and even shedding a tear.

Thank you for the music Helen, May the 4th full force be with you? it definitely was with us!

Also thanks to our super good domestic team member for being such a great sport and joining in the fun!

A relaxed May Bank holiday Monday on Ocean one, as we mixed pop music with Petunia's and had a very relaxing time.

We planted our favourite flowers and sang our favourite songs. Now we will be watching them grow in the Spring sunshine. We’ll continue to serenade them into the Summer and beyond as we watch them grow.

Seems our new Wellbeing Lead Dave has green fingers as well as musical ones!
