BeeWell are hosting their next Health and Wellbeing Open Day at Leigh Leisure Centre on Wednesday 30 July (10am-2pm), in partnership with Leigh Primary Care Network, LiGA Primary Care Network and Health First AWL CIC.

You can get a FREE ‘health MOT’ and speak to a whole range of local health and wellbeing services about many different topics.

****Update about mounjaro and weight loss on the NHS****

It has been in the national news that GPs have been permitted to prescribe mounjaro for weight loss for a small set of people. This is not something that local practices can yet. The further support services required to do this are not in place locally.

The criteria only initially will only apply to people with a BMI of 40 and over AND have FOUR or more weight related conditions.

Mounjaro should only been taken and supplied for weight loss if done alongside dietary support. This is something that has not been addressed in Greater Manchester.

We will update patients, likely directly to eligible patients when this is a service we can offer.

We have been made aware that fraudsters have contacted people within Greater Manchester claiming to be a clinician working with the practice. Once gaining trust they have offered medication or another service for a small fee.

Our staff should always be calling from the practice number although our pharmacy team currently are calling from non-withheld numbers. This is something we are actively addressing. No practice staff should or would ask for your bank details. We are obliged to check some identifiable information to ensure we are speaking with correct person however if you are unsure about someone's identity, we welcome you to challenge any unfamiliar staff. If in doubt, please end the call and contact the practice directly.
