Another lovely week ahead next week and another week into our trial of set activities on the same day each week.

For our animal assisted therapy session we will be having two of the cutest Shetland ponies touring all our units. Ian from Music in Mind is away next week so the fabulous Steve Flynn will be here doing his country set - we do love a bit of country here at Gainsborough House!!

We had an amazing, tear jerking, magic moment during music therapy today.

This gent couldn’t walk when he moved in with us. With lots of care and inspired by Ian from Music in Mind, he suddenly got up and decided to dance. At one point he even tried a side kick lifting both feet off the ground to click them together!

After he sat down he said “ I didn’t know I could do that!” Isn’t that wonderful!

Kerry our Deputy Manager managed to capture the exact moment on video, we are seeing if we can blur out residents faces and share it. But for now here’s a photo.

Today’s animal assisted therapy session was delivered by Zoolab.

Our Zoolab ranger made sure we got to experience a range of different creatures and we also learned a lot about them too!

May 12th is International Nurses Day and we’ve been showing our appreciation by gifting some little treats for our Nurses to have with their breaks.

How lovely is this bench, donated in memory of Keith one of former residents.

This will be enjoyed by everyone for many years to come thanks to Keith’s family.

We received this lovely message from Sarah Humphries, the vintage singer who performed for us on VE Day.

It’s a lovely testimony to our amazing team. It’s even more special when you know that Sarah was a Care Home Assistant before she started to sing professionally full time. So she really does know the difference!

Thankyou Sarah. This will mean a lot to our team members.

Another wonderful week ahead here at Gainsborough House.

We are into our fifth month of our set activities on the same day each week trial now. This week’s animal assisted therapy is Zoolab, and it’s also our fortnightly visit from Rev Samson and our favourite pre-schoolers at Jo Jingles.

We had great fun today with another fabulous performance from Helen Minshall.

We couldn’t fail to feel cheery after her bright, and full on fun, high energy performance. It was also lovely to see residents from all our households taking part too.
