🧠✨ New Research Alert! ✨🧠
Dr. Ghydaa Anwar and her amazing team have recently published a study in Scientific Reports!
Their research shows that forward head posture (FHP) - that tilted forward head position many of us have from looking at screens - does more than just affect your neck and back. It actually makes your brain work harder to keep your body balanced! 🤯
👣 When doing challenging balance tasks, people with FHP showed higher brain-muscle activity, especially in areas linked to focus and movement. This means your brain is overcompensating just to stay stable. Over time, this can lead to:
Fatigue
Poor coordination
Chronic pain
Even a higher risk of falls
“This shows that FHP isn’t just a posture problem, it’s a brain and body coordination issue” said Dr. Deed Harrison.
📊 Their work also suggests a new way to measure and treat posture-related brain changes using something called Corticomuscular Coherence - a fancy term for how well your brain talks to your muscles.
Remember to check your posture when using your phone or laptop! Try to keep screens at eye level and reduce screen time where you can. Your brain and body will thank you 🙌🏼
