A couple of weeks ago, I submitted an Application to Birmingham University for a LLW (Master of Laws (or Magister Legum)) in Environmental and Energy Law. It's part time over two and a half years and online/distance learning too.
The absolutely brilliant Sunil and David, two of my Lecturers from York Uni (Scarborough Campus) first time around, also agreed to be Academic referees, and provided References so wonderful, they made me well up.... but then wonder if they had me confused with someone else!!
I doubted I'd get in, as the Entry Requirement was for a Bachelor's in Law, and mine are Coastal Management and Conservation (York)/Marine Biology (Newcastle), but I wanted to try anyway, as it's what I deal with in my job day to day, so I thought you never know if you don't try!!
The Uni called the very next day, and they said I had everything they needed and my Application was vetted and sent to Admissions. They also said, as my Application was so strong, they didn't actually need the Academic References, but as Sunil and David were already writing them, they could only further help my Application.
I've just got an email and they've given me an UNCONDITIONAL OFFER and I start my Masters Degree on 2nd March 2026!!
I can also apply for an Early Bird discount, now I have my Offer and, although competitive, I have also applied for a £3k Scholarship too, but waiting to hear back on that.
I'm so bloody chuffed!!
