Understanding Emotional Dysregulation — and How Counselling Can Help 💬

Do your emotions sometimes feel overwhelming, intense, or hard to control?
You’re not broken — this may be emotional dysregulation.

What is emotional dysregulation?
Emotional dysregulation is difficulty managing emotional responses. You might notice:
• Big emotional reactions that feel out of proportion
• Sudden mood shifts
• Feeling flooded by anger, anxiety, sadness, or shame
• Struggling to calm yourself once upset
• Feeling “too much” or shutting down completely

This often develops as a response to stress, trauma, childhood experiences, neurodiversity, or long-term emotional invalidation. It’s your nervous system trying to protect you — even if it no longer feels helpful.

How counselling can help 🌱
Counselling offers a safe, non-judgmental space to:
• Understand why your emotions react the way they do
• Identify emotional triggers and patterns
• Learn grounding, regulation, and self-soothing tools
• Build emotional awareness and self-compassion
• Strengthen your ability to respond rather than react

Over time, counselling can help your nervous system feel safer, making emotions feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

🌿 Grief Awareness Week 🌿
Inner Healing Counselling

Grief is a natural, human response to loss — not just the loss of a person, but the loss of anything deeply meaningful: relationships, identity, safety, dreams, or seasons of life that have passed. It can show up as sadness, numbness, anger, confusion, exhaustion, or even relief. There is no “right” way to grieve, and no timeline that you must follow.

This week, we gently acknowledge that grief is not something to “get over,” but something we learn to carry with tenderness.
Just like the heart held within caring hands, healing happens when we give ourselves compassion, permission to feel, and space to breathe.
