📢 State-of-the-art community clinic opens in

Bridgewater Community Healthcare Foundation Trust has opened a new state-of-the-art community dental clinic in the centre of Altrincham.

The hi-tech facility, which is located within Altrincham Health and Wellbeing Centre, means that patients will be able to receive their care in brand new clinical rooms, using modern specialist dental equipment.

This is a ‘one stop shop’ where all of their dental needs can be met under one roof.

As a community dental service, Bridgewater provide specialist dental care to people who have conditions which mean that it may not be possible for them to access treatment from an NHS family dentist.

Nikhil Khashu, Chief Executive Officer of Bridgewater Community Healthcare underlined the benefits that the new clinic will bring:

“The fact that our patients can receive all their dental treatment under the one roof, is so important. Many of them find their dental visits anxiety-provoking, so this considerably reduces any stress.

“With the latest dental technology here on site, including X-ray equipment, we’re able to provide a seamless, more efficient service, which brings huge benefits to the people in our care. I’m really pleased to be here today to help celebrate that.”

The Government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England places a clear focus on personalised care and staff do all they can to provide a calm, welcoming space for their patients, many of whom are children.

Even the modern, spacious clinic has been purposefully designed to provide patients with a more relaxed environment.

As a specialist dental service, patients are referred to the clinic by their dentist, GP, or other health care and social care professionals.

Daisy Chapman, aged 10 from Sale, was one of the first patients to be treated at the new facility. Daisy’s mother Amanda Charnock explained:

“Some issues with a filling were causing Daisy pain. She was a bit worried about her treatment, but the dental staff went above and beyond to put her at ease. They were telling her stories to distract her, explaining the equipment they were using – they involved her all the way. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I can’t tell you how it felt to see them nurturing my child in this way.”

Daisy added:

“I like coming to the dentist now because I like being involved in what’s happening. It’s fun finding out what all the equipment is for, especially the chair you sit in. The dentist and other people who looked after me were really kind, too.”

Speaking at today’s official opening, Martyn Taylor, Trust Chair, said:

“We’re delighted to be able to offer such an advanced healthcare facility to our dental patients. Here at Bridgewater Community Healthcare, we pride ourselves on providing personalised care and responding to their individual needs.”
