INTRESTING READ THIS A.M 👌

Does skeletal maturity in elite youth academy football players effect the risk of both overall injury and injury to the lower limb аpophysis??

➡️All injuries that required medical attention and led to time loss were recorded
➡️4 consecutive seasons
➡️ 283 unique football players from U-13 to U-19
The skeletal age (SA) - 454 player-seasons using the Fels method
➡️Skeletal maturity status (SA
minus chronological age) was classified as follows:
LATE (SA >1 year behind age)
NORMAL (SA ±1 year of age).
EARLY (SA >1 year ahead of age).
MATURE (SA '/4 18 years)
➡️ Modified Cox regression model used to analyse injury risk.

➡️1565 injuries were recorded
➡️60% were time-loss injuries, resulting in 17,772 days lost.
➡️Significantly greater hazard
ratio (HR) for different status of skeletal maturity:
early vs normal (HR 1/4 1.26
[95% CI, 1.11-1.42]; P < .001) and early vs mature (HR 1/4 1.35 [95% CI, 1.17-1.56]; P
< .001).
➡️Players who were skeletally mature at the wrist had a substantially decreased
risk of lower extremity apophyseal injuries (by 45%-61%) compared with late (P

Some advice for those recovering from Covid19 and tips to stay healthy while working at home during the lockdown. Hope everyone is staying safe 🌈

When we feel tired and lacking in energy all we want to do is rest and REST is a KEY part of the healing process... however TOO MUCH rest is detrimental to your RECOVERY!🛌🚫

The longer your INACTIVE the WEAKER your MUSCLES become and if you struggle with JOINTS they will feel stiffer and more PAINFUL when you try to weight bear - making task that were previously easy more and MORE CHALLENGING. The work rate of your HEART ❤ and LUNGS reduces which again will make what once seemed a simple task of walking up the strairs or about the house so much more exerting. 📈

TRY TO SET YOURSELF A SMALL GOAL EVERY DAY AND DOCUMENTATE YOUR PROGRESS. (use the activity sheet ive shared) Use the BREATHING EXERCISES to help with breathlessness.
YOUR PHYSIO OR GP CAN ADVISE YOU IF YOU ARE UNSURE OR IF YOU ARE CONCERNED OVER ANYTHING. 📞💻

PREVENTION is also better than cure... if your working from home make sure your follwing the advice to get the best out of your body during lockdown!!
