January seems to be the most popular month to stop smoking...

So here's a little story about someone I helped.

A smoker, who had their first cigarette aged 10 years old and properly started smoking aged 12 years old!

Their Dad and Aunty smoked and the young person thought it looked glamorous, even though they didn't really enjoy it to begin with!

They persevered and, aged 32, they had got to a point of smoking every day; up to 20 ci******es per day.

This often led to them drinking more alcohol than they'd like too, as this was the association they had formed.

Their reasons for wanting to stop were many...

- They had asthma and smoking made it worse!

- They had a number of family members who had died due to smoking related issues and they didn't want to be among them.

- They wanted to start a family and worried that smoking was making it less likely to happen.

- They wanted to set a good example for their younger family members.

- They hated the smell of ci******es on their clothes.

- They had come to hate the taste too!

- They wanted to improve their general wellbeing and not use ci******es as a way to cope with stress.

- Having done the maths, they realised that they could save at least £1,400+ per year simply by stopping this habit...

They will use these savings towards making their family a reality. 💖

Have you ever wondered what happens in our first therapy session together?

Well, we spend the first part of the session talking about the issues you would like the therapy to help with and what you would like to achieve from the sessions.

This is absolutely open to change as things progress but it gives us a focus from the start, so we know what we're aiming for.

We will talk about how these issues affect you, both physically and emotionally and I will ask you a little about your upbringing, work, hobbies etc. All to help me have a better understanding of you and the things that may have influenced you in your life.

There is absolutely no judgement from me about anything and it is all completely confidential. And there is no need to talk about anything you are uncomfortable with. I can work with whatever you are comfortable telling me. 😌

The second part of the session is a chance for me to explain how the brain works and how we can struggle with certain things and what we can do to change those things for the better.
I will relate this to your specific situation and circumstances so it makes sense to you, rather than it being an abstract idea that doesn't seem relevant.

Being aware of, and understanding, why you think, feel and behave in a certain way is the first step to changing it. 😊

After the session, I will give you a hypnotherapy relaxation sound file to listen to each day, that will really start the change process moving. 😉

And that's it. Nothing scary at all. Simply gentle, guided support to help you make the changes you want to have the life you deserve. ✨️

Client success story

This client and I worked together for just over 6 weeks.

At the start
They were very negative, by their own admission, and often felt anxious.
They had been bullied at school and, as an adult, felt ostracised from their colleagues at work; which, in turn, made them feel weak minded.
They suffered with IBS symptoms and had trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep throughout the night.
