Rescue Packs.

We would like to highlight a recent social media post from Asthma UK:

‘We’ve been made aware of some posts on social media, saying that if you have a respiratory/lung disease your GP will issue a rescue pack of steroids and antibiotics. This is recommended for some people with COPD to be used as part of a personalised plan. However for people with asthma, we do NOT recommend these as standard.

If someone’s asthma is bad enough to consider steroids it is essential they are assessed by a healthcare professional. Even at this busy time for the NHS, getting early support for any problems with your lungs is critical to keep you well and out of hospital.’

Repeat prescriptions:
community pharmacists and GP practices need your help!

Do you have a regular prescription?

Please follow the advice below to help reduce pressure on local GP practices and community pharmacies and also to ensure there are enough medicines for everyone who needs them.

• Please DO NOT go into your surgery to order a repeat prescription. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online via your surgery website or through the NHS App. If you are not able to go online, please contact your surgery who will advise how you can order your medicines.

• Please DO NOT request extra quantities of your medication or order your prescription before your usual due date. GPs will not authorise issue of extra medications.
