Let me tell you about yoga during menopause - it's been such a game-changer for me! Here's what I've noticed:

๐Ÿ˜ด Sleep gets so much better - those gentle evening flows help quiet my mind when hormones want to keep me wired at 2am
๐Ÿซ Night sweats become more manageable - the breathing techniques I've learned actually help me ride them out instead of fighting them
๐Ÿ™‚ My mood feels more stable - there's something about moving slowly and mindfully that just centres me when everything else feels chaotic
โ˜ฏ๏ธ Flexibility improves as well as balance - super important as we age and oestrogen shifts affect our bones
๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ It's MY time - even 15 minutes on the mat feels like hitting a reset button

The ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐˜๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ฎ is you can adapt it to how you're feeling that day. Gentle restorative when you're exhausted, more dynamic flows when you need to shake off stress.

This combo works for ME - what works for you might look different, and that's totally okay!

Your body is speaking. Are you listening?

That exhaustion you're feeling? That urge to slow down? It's not laziness. It's wisdom.

Perimenopause is your body's invitation to step into a different way of being. This isn't the time to push harder, go faster, or power through like you used to.

This is the time to soften.

Your hormones are shifting, calling you toward something gentler. Your nervous system is asking for more rest, not more stress. Your soul is craving quiet moments, not constant doing.

There's deep feminine wisdom in this transition. It's asking you to:
Rest when you're tired (even if it's 2pm)
Say no when your body whispers "not today"
Choose the softer path over the harder one
Trust your intuition over your to-do list

The external world will tell you to push through. Your conditioned patterns will insist you keep going. But your body knows better. Let your internal compass guide you.

This is your season of yin energy - receptive, nurturing, flowing. Honour it. Trust it. Rest in it.

You're not falling behind. Listen to your body. She's been waiting so patiently for you to hear her.

What does rest look like for you today? ๐Ÿ’œ Tell me in the comments and tag a friend who needs to rest today. Bx

You used to feel needed, but now the house is quiet. Yoga isn't just about movement - it's a tool to rediscover who you are in this new chapter of life. โœจ

If you're in this season right now, I see you. The adjustment isn't easy, but you're not alone. Your children growing up and moving on is a beautiful thing - and so is this opportunity to reconnect with yourself.

Your yoga mat is waiting to be your companion through this transition. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or getting back to practice after years away. What matters is showing up for yourself, even if it's just for 10 minutes.

This isn't about perfect poses. It's about breathing through the quiet moments, stretching away the tension of change, and discovering the incredible woman you've always been - beyond the roles you've played.

Your next chapter is calling. Are you ready to step onto your mat and into your power? Need some help getting started? Book a discovery call and let's find out how I can support you. Link in bio. Love Bx

Over the moon to have received my Senior Yoga Teacher badge! โœจ

After 15 years of practising, and 12 years of teaching, I'm brimming with gratitude to become a Senior Yoga Teacher. If this journey has taught me one thing, it's that yoga is so much more than Asana!

It's about Sangha - the beautiful community we create together. It's about how our practice evolves with us through life and the power of Sadhana; of showing up day after day.

It really is a commitment to a way of life; to growth; to living in awareness. Ultimately, it's about freedom.

We keep learning and evolving, and I'm excited to keep growing alongside my amazing yoga fam. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my path so far! ๐Ÿ’›

Love always Bx

My 4-Step Formula for a Calm Menopause

Step 1: Fuel Your Body Right
The Cooling Foods Technique - Add more cooling foods to your daily meals to help reduce hot flushes. Focus on:
๐Ÿซ Fresh fruits like berries, melons, and citrus
๐Ÿฅฌ Leafy greens and cucumber
๐ŸŸ Fish and other protein-rich foods
๐Ÿ’ง Plenty of filtered water throughout the day
Why it works: These foods help regulate body temperature and provide essential nutrients that support hormone balance.

Step 2: Move with Gentle Strength
The 20-Minute Daily Movement Rule - Combine gentle strength training with calming yoga:
๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ 10 minutes of light weights or resistance exercises (2-3 times per week)
๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ 10 minutes of restorative yoga poses like Child's Pose and Legs-Up-The-Wall
๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Daily walks or swimming for 20-30 minutes
Why it works: Exercise helps maintain bone density and muscle mass, while yoga reduces stress hormones that can worsen menopause symptoms.

Step 3: Create Your Calm Space
๐Ÿซ The Ocean Breath Practice is a calming breathing exercise for when you feel overwhelmed:
๐ŸŒฌ๏ธBreathe in slowly through your nose while gently constricting your throat (makes a sound like the ocean)
๐ŸŒฌ๏ธBreathe out through your nose with the same gentle throat constriction
๐ŸŒŠ Create a soft "ocean wave" sound with each breath
๐ŸŽฑ Continue for 8 breaths
Why it works: This activates your body's relaxation response and helps manage anxiety, mood swings, and sleep issues.

Step 4: Design Your Comfort Zone
Make simple changes to your daily environment:
๐Ÿ‘š Dress in layers you can easily remove
๐Ÿ›Œ Use breathable, organic cotton for bedding
๐Ÿฅถ Keep your bedroom cool for better sleep
Why it works: Being prepared for temperature changes reduces stress and helps you feel more in control of your symptoms.

Remember: Small, consistent changes work better than dramatic overhauls. Start with one step and gradually add the others as they become habits. One step at a time rather than all at once.

Menopause brings change and movement is medicine. In fact, walking might just be the most powerful (and underrated) tool in your wellness toolbox! ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ

Hereโ€™s why walking is the ultimate low-cost fitness strategy for women in midlife:
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ No Membership Required. No fancy gym. No expensive gear. Just comfy shoes and youโ€™re ready to go.
๐Ÿซ€ Serious Health Benefits๏ฟฝSupport your heart, metabolism, and mood. Walking can ease menopause symptoms and help with weight management, energy, and sleep (especially if you walk in the morning).
๐Ÿ•’ Fits Into Your Day๏ฟฝMorning, midday, or evening - itโ€™s flexible, like you. Walk at your pace, on your schedule.
๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ Boosts Connection: walk with a friend, join a group, with colleagues during lunch breaks or bring your dog. Itโ€™s good for your body and your mental well-being.
๐ŸŒ Gentle on the Planet: get steps in while skipping the car. A win for you and Mother Earth.
โœจ Start small. Stay consistent. Walk your way through menopause with strength, resilience, and support. Youโ€™re not alone in this - Iโ€™m here to help.

As a certified Menopause Movement Coach, I specialise in tailoring movement to your unique symptoms and needs. Want personalised support? Send me a DM and letโ€™s create a plan that works for you.

Going through perimenopause? Nearly two-thirds of women experience memory changes during menopause, and research shows that 40% report memory and concentration issues, with over 34% of women experiencing brain fog in the workplace.

I get it - when you're just trying to survive each day, those healthy routines feel impossible to maintain. The early wake up, the focus, the evening practice that once felt natural? They can completely disappear when you're in survival mode. And the isolation that comes with feeling "not quite yourself" only makes it harder.

But here's what the research tells us: cognitive issues during menopause typically don't linger, and coping strategies like changing routines, writing reminders, and exercising can help. Studies show that interventions focusing on education, physical activity, stress management, and healthy behaviours are most effective for menopausal women.

The truth is, structure during this transition isn't just helpful - it's essential. Not the rigid, overwhelming kind, but gentle frameworks that work WITH your changing body and mind, not against them.

Whether you're ready for a self-paced approach or need the accountability of 1:1 support in my personalised programmes, you don't have to navigate this alone. Your future self is waiting for the support you deserve right now.

Patience, Perseverance, Practice

For me yoga is a way of life and it teaches me how to live better, be better a human. The physical, mental and spiritual benefits are evident; yoga has helped me turn my life around and I want to share this healing practice with others.

I endeavour to bring the qualities of compassion and equanimity to my practice and encourage this in class. Yoga is for everybody! It is not a competition to see who is the most flexible; the pose is not the prize! Yoga is a way of being. It offers practices for living, taking care of self (body and mind), developing a deeper relationship with self and others. In fact, it is what we take from the mat into our daily lives that is yoga. The competition with our own ego is the fiercest of all and where we really need to be gentle and kind; letting go is key as well as cultivating an attitude of non-judgment. We need to bring patience and perseverance to our practice. A commitment to getting on the mat and exploring with playful curiosity.

Bref, yoga - for me - is about: acceptance, non-judgment, kindness, compassion, awareness, service, growth and truth.
