Cake and Fat Loss

I have a client at the moment who’s just had her daughters birthday while trying to lose weight and she had some cake

No guilt

No sadness

They Don’t Do This Really

But when you start your fitness journey, it’s important to not do things which will massively overwhelm you

I’ve seen this with other coaches when they will take a new client in who’s rather not done this health thing for a very long time, or at all and suddenly they’ve got them

Counting calories
Counting macros

Counting steps
Training most days
Tracking workouts on apps

The client things they can’t do this, gets overwhelmed and thinks they’re a failure

Lifting Weights For Fat Loss 🔥

The main thing I talk to my clients about is nutrition, habits and behaviours around food

This is the most common struggle and the most difficult part of the journey

But you should all be lifting weights, even if your goals are fat loss or weight loss

It’s so important for our health yet most, even the ones trying to get healthy are avoiding it

Have a better shape in and out of clothes

Meal Plans and Fat Loss

I’ve fell for the meal plans in the past

I use to sell meal plans 14 years ago when I became a pt

And I still get asked to the day if I do them when someone reaches out for help with their weight loss goals

But you don’t need a meal plan to get your results

Most won’t stick to them anyway and it’s better to learn about nutrition than try to follow this 90s style meal plan which isn’t going to include your kids birthday cake when that special time comes around

Personal trainers are still pushing these low calories, low carbs, none sustainable food plans and I get you fall for them, we’re desperate for results

But those meal plans are not the answer

Thought You Were On A Diet

Sod off Susan and go back to your no bread sandwich and leave me alone

This is something a lot of my clients have come across and it’s usually from friends or work colleagues

You know the ones who do a few days in the gym and have read a a couple of the men’s health

Or those who follow nutrition advice from Davina or some Z list celeb who’s come out of the jungle

Nutrition has been made so complicated over the years, most have no clue where to start or what to do anymore

You’ve got idiots claiming you can’t have some bread because you’re trying to lose weight

Or you shouldn’t enjoy some birthday cake with your kids because of the sugar 💀

Morons

But you have to be careful who you get the info for your nutrition from, because unfortunately you’ve got adults who who still eat plates and plates of pasta and think the calories don’t matter because it’s free 🤦🏼‍♂️

Counting Calories For Loss

When I get a new client who enquires about fat loss or their health and fitness goals, something which the ask is

Will I have to count calories?

Firstly I am a big fan of counting and understanding food portions, what’s in foods etc

But expecting everyone to fall into place and count is poor coaching

The principles for weight loss and fat loss are the same, but the methods certainly don’t have to be the same

The job of the coach is finding what’s best for you

What works in your life style

What works for you for where you are right now

Nutrition is simple and this journey is tough

Don’t make it harder by making the food side more difficult than it needs to be

The Bingo Wing

This phrase comes up most weeks when I’m talking to the ladies who reach out for help with their goals

Ladies will grab it and say I want to lose this…

The grab their stomachs and say this area…

All common areas ladies want to lose

But sometimes it’s not just about losing it…

It’s about building it back up because to have a toned arm

You need muscles

Then on that well developed muscle, you need less body fat

This does come down to your nutrition for the majority of it

But it’s really important to look into training with weights

This is scary thought for a lot, and it’s why I’m a massive fan of machines for most at the start of their journey as they build their confidence up in the gym, especially when the work online with a coach

It’s why I build the fitness side of the Reset Method to be simple in the gym area

You don’t need to re create the wheel

But to get a toned body, you will have to start lifting weights
