Lymphatic drainage with a Stoma/ileostomy is completely safe and very beneficial. MLD is going to help support your body’s functions of cleansing & removing waste, having a ileostomy does not change this. We use specialised techniques to support correct drainage.

Ever heard of your calf muscles being referred to as the 2nd heart? The calf muscles contracting help the flow of blood back towards the heart, if this wasn’t to happen the blood would pool in the calf’s. This muscular contraction also helps lymphatic flow, as the lymphatic system works along side the circulatory system, the contraction of the muscles helps to push the lymph towards the upper body.
This is why when we sit for long periods of time you can notice swelling of the legs and ankles.

Stagnation is a word we use in Chinese medicine a lot. When diagnosing people we often see liver QI stagnation, what does that mean? Our qi our energy is stuck it can’t move freely, will result in symptoms such as mood swings, pain on the sides of the body, irregular menstruation, digestive issues.
When using fire cups, stagnation shows as dark purple, these highlight areas where blood again can’t flow freely.

Don’t neglect your legs when getting a sports massage. Your legs literally support you every day and move you around. Sometimes when wearing incorrect footwear that can impact the ways in which your muscles work.
We also need to look at the body as a whole, as often we see referred pain originating from somewhere completely different.
