We were recently treated to a sparkling performance by Emily from The D-Day Dollies, who sang wartime favourites from the 1940’s, and put a spring in the step and a song in the hearts of our residents and team here at Oakley Grange.🎙️

With songs from the Andrews Sisters, Judy Garland, and the inimitable Dame Vera Lynn, plus many other vintage classics, her performance really was the soundtrack of an amazing generation. 🇬🇧

Magical musical moments like these are so special and we look forward to welcoming the D-Day Dollies back very soon! 🎵

Cinnamon Care Collection Mini Concerts

🌟This morning we were delighted to launch our new monthly Intergenerational LEGO Club in partnership with local charity and training provider, Kissing it Better 🌟

The morning was a resounding success, bringing together residents and children for fun, creativity and connection through LEGO

Our monthly club is designed provide a free, friendly and creative space where children, their families and our residents can work together to build imaginative creations, share stories and learn from one another. Intergenerational activities like this benefit both young and older participants by encouraging friendships, boosting wellbeing and strengthening community ties.

Our next club takes place:

Yesterday evening, our residents, their families and friends, along with staff and members of the wider community were treated to a very special inspirational talk with British adventurer, Guiness World Recordholder and Cinnamon Ambassador Louis Alexander 🌟

Louis’ remarkable story began at just 19 years old, when he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for , in loving memory of his grandfather, a former Captain in the British Army who lived with dementia for 17 years. That first expedition marked the start of a lifelong promise: to support the fight against dementia and to use adventure as a platform for change. 🏃‍♂️🏊‍♀️⛷️

In 2024, he became the first and only person in history to run marathons on all Seven Continents and complete marathon swims in all Seven Seas, pushing his physical and mental limits in some of the world’s most extreme environments, from Antarctica to the Amazon and the Arabian Sea. Last year, Cinnamon Care Collection were proud to sponsor Louis in becoming the first person in history to run eight consecutive marathons across all eight Australian capital cities.

At the heart of Louis’ achievements lies a powerful personal mission. Through his expeditions, media appearances and public speaking, he has raised over £50,000 for dementia-related causes and has become one of the leading young voices advocating for greater awareness, research and improved diagnosis.💙

It was a wonderful evening and Louis was incredibly humble about his extraordinary achievements and the adventures he has planned for the future.

And if that wasn't enough, we also got to enjoy a superb selection of artisan cheeses from local delicatessan Aubrey Allen and a carefully curated line up of wine.🧀🍷Special thanks must also go to the lovely Malcolm from Wenman Healthcare who was our unofficial wine waiter throughout the evening.

⏳ The countdown is on until the launch of our FREE club in partnership with local charity and training provider, and we couldn’t be more excited!

📅 Saturday 11th April
⏰11.00am - 12.00pm
📍Oakley Grange Care Home

This new club takes place on the second Saturday of the month and we'd love you to join us! Complimentary refreshments will be available throughout the morning. ☕️🥤🧁

We're also on the look out for more Lego. Do you have any old Lego bricks hiding in the attic, cupboards or toy boxes? Then why not donate them and help us put together the pieces of our new club!

Every brick will help spark lots of creativity, reminiscence, learning and fun.

On our residents and team were treated to an egg-stra special suprise by the Easter Bunny who delivered Easter eggs to each and every one of our ladies and gents. 🐰

And despite many false guesses, resident Tony worked out that the Easter Bunny was none other than our very own General Manager Pam!

Thank you Pam for bringing lots of Easter fun and mischief to our home, we wonder what other surprises you have in store for us!🐣

Music plays a big part in life here at Oakley Grange, as well as regular trips out in our very own minibus. 🎹 🚐 So we were thrilled to combine the two together when we were recently invited to a dress rehearsal performance especially for us, by our friends at Austin Heath, ahead of their Old Time Musical show.

It was such a lovely nostalgic morning and the effort that the members of Austin Heath choir put into their costumes wasn’t lost in us. 👗🎩

We treasure musical mornings like these and are thrilled to have been invited back to their summer show! 😊

🐰 The Easter fun continues here at Oakley Grange with an uplifting arts and crafts session run by Arts Uplift, as our residents and staff had a wonderful morning getting creative together. 🎨🖌️

Their beautiful artwork now takes pride of place in our reception area for all to admire, afterall it's too good not to be seen.

Sessions like these help to improve health and wellbeing, social interaction, as well as providing a sense of achievement.

We had a cracking time today hosting our Egg-citing Easter Trail here at Oakley Grange 🐣 and were delighted that so many children and their families from the local community joined us. 🐾🐾

Throughout the afternoon the children followed the clues left by the Easter Bunny and embarked on a fun filled adventure before claiming their prize. 🐰

Intergenerational activities and events like this bring so much joy to our residents and we have lots more planned over the coming weeks and months.

It may have been today, but here at Oakley Grange we got down to serious business with an Easter master baking class, with the very talented Thian, our Pastry Chef! 👩‍🍳

Together we created these edible works of art and yes, if anyone is wondering, these beautiful choux pastry Easter swans tasted as good as they look! 🦢

In fact Thian’s master baking class proved it had all the ingredients for a successful activity, so much so that, on our residents’ request, it’s going to be a regular event on our Weekly Events Planner.
