Endometriosis awareness month takes place through March. Endometriosis Awareness Month is a global movement dedicated to increasing recognition of endometriosis, promoting earlier diagnosis, and improving access to appropriate care. Endometriosis UK reports 54% of people (increasing to 74% of men) do not know about endometriosis even though it affects around 1.5million women in the UK.
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows elsewhere in the body — commonly around the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder or bowel.
Symptoms can include:
-Severe period pain that stops you from doing normal activities
-Heavy periods
-Pelvic pain outside of your period
-Pain during or after s*x
-Pain when going to the toilet
-Difficulty getting pregnant
-Fatigue and low mood
