.
We all make mistakes. Fact.
The truly important part, is how we recover.
Admitting them, reflecting on them, and apologising if necessary, is important.
As is forgiving ourselves.
Too many of us feel that mistakes are embarrassing, we live in fear of making them, (which incidentally, can make us more likely to focus on all the things that can go wrong, thus making mistakes all the more likely, but that's probably a different post). Maybe we feel mistakes mean that we are failing, publicly, for others to see.
We fear the judgement of others, whilst judging ourselves.
Truth is, nobody is perfect.
Nobody is immune to struggling, screwing up, getting things wrong, or being clumsy at times...
It just isn't realistic to expect perfection from ourselves, or even anything close to that. We are all simply human.
Making mistakes, is natural, normal, and part of how we learn. In fact, some of our most valuable lessons are as a result of the mistakes that we make, if we are brave enough to look at them.
It takes real courage to admit our imperfections, our faults, our errors, and our moments of clumsiness. But doing so, is what allows us to learn.
It really is ok to make mistakes.
It's our mistakes, and recovering from them, that helps us to build resilience, and to grow.
