This week, Kate Middleton shared her story with the press on how acupuncture played an important part to support her cancer treatment. Kate used Chinese medicine and particularly acupuncture and talked about the positive effects acupuncture has had alongside Western medicine.

Kate has talked about having acupuncture over the years for other health reasons and how she’s benefited from treatment, so it makes sense she would continue with treatment after her cancer diagnosis.

I have supported many patients over the years through cancer treatment and beyond and have always felt very grateful and lucky to be able to help my patients through difficult times. Cancer affects all of our lives in one way or another, so if you know of anyone having treatment, they might not have thought about Chinese medicine alongside Western medicine, it might be worth looking at who practices nearby and giving them a call for a chat about the benefits.

Happy Chinese New Year 2025.

It’s the year of the snake. What a beautiful creature and often given bad press for being sneaky and sly. But, the snake represents rebirth, transformation, knowledge, wisdom and creativity.

Let’s celebrate the end of winter and the start of an amazing 2025 and look ahead to a happy, healthy and prosperous year.

Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a peaceful and relaxing Christmas and I’ll look forward to seeing you back in clinic on 7th January.

I want to say a huge thank you to my wonderful patients. I feel very lucky to have such amazing patients who have committed to improving their health and well-being and really have benefitted from this fantastic form of medicine. Acupuncture isn’t a one hit wonder and for those of you have given it a chance have benefited in so many ways.

Looking back this year, some of the highlights in clinic have been….

Improving patients mental health, reducing anxiety and low mood

Reducing stress

Reducing and getting rid of headaches and migraines

Treating chronic and acute pain

Reducing the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause

Treating symptoms and side effects during or after cancer treatment

Helping improve sleep

And of course, lots of lovely acu babies were born this year. Supporting patients struggling to conceive naturally or through IVF and then throughout pregnancy as well has been humbling and such a pleasure.

These are just a few of the many things I’ve treated in clinic this year and of course there have been many more. I’m feeling very positive about 2025 and am looking forward to seeing who else comes to try acupuncture at my clinic in Warwick.

Back to school today. I spent the day with the amazing Jong Baik who teaches Korean style acupuncture. Today we looked an a multi approach to treating pain, from back pain to headaches to abdominal pain. East Asian medicine is so huge-however long you’ve been practicing, we never know everything and I think it’s so important to learn as much as possible about different styles of acupuncture and gain new ideas to be able to use at my clinic. I love Jong Baik courses-i have attended many over the years and always take away so much. I can’t wait to use this in clinic with my patients. Thank you

One of my patients brought this article in to me from today’s Daily Mail. It was great to read such a positive article on how acupuncture works and how treatment can treat a huge variety of symptoms.

The Doctor who wrote the article spoke how he has completely changed his views on Chinese medicine and what huge benefits acupuncture can bring. He talks about the benefits for chronic pain, migraines, back pain, insomnia, gastrointestinal pain, blood pressure, heart disease, menopausal symptoms and many more. He also mentions the lack of any side effects of having acupuncture compared to taking some drug and medications.

He discusses how much positive research there is available and the lack of publicised research as acupuncture research isn’t funded or marketed by huge drugs companies so the benefits of acupuncture often get ignored.

Thank you Professor Rob Galloway for your article. We know it works and all my patients at my busy acupuncture clinic know it works, so it’s great to hear it from a medical professional.

Happy Valentines Day!

The heart is a symbol of love which is a huge emotion, whether it be for a person or a passion, love can mean so much.

I work a lot with patients in clinic looking at the heart as a vital organ and the physical aspects of the heart, but also the huge emotional aspect.

In Chinese medicine, the Heart houses the mind and is responsible for emotional tension and looks at how emotions such as joy, worry, anger, fear, sadness and shock can all have a massive impact on our mental and physical health.

This is why I love Chinese medicine so much. Our bodies are all connected and acupuncture treats body, mind and spirit together.

So, give some love and appreciation to your own heart today on Valentine’s Day. Our hearts and bodies are truly amazing!!
