🔍 Understanding Joint Hypermobility in Children
Did you know that some children are naturally more flexible due to a condition called joint hypermobility?
This means their joints move beyond the normal range. While this can sometimes go unnoticed, for some children it can lead to symptoms that affect daily life, including:
✅ Joint or muscle pain (especially after activity)
✅ Fatigue or slower recovery after exercise
✅ Clumsiness or frequent falls
✅ Poor posture or muscle weakness
✅ Difficulty with fine motor tasks (like handwriting)
At Shires Physio, we have had a recent influx of enquiries about hypermobility in children. We work with families across Kenilworth, Warwick, and surrounding areas to assess and support children with hypermobility-related issues.
How can physiotherapy help?
🧠 Education – helping families and children understand their condition
💪 Strength & stability exercises – to support joints and reduce pain
🧸 Activity pacing – avoiding overuse while staying active
🎯 Balance and coordination work – for everyday confidence
📚 School and home advice – including posture tips and movement breaks
Hypermobility is common in children, but when symptoms interfere with everyday life, support can make a big difference.
