Most people assume anxiety, panic, or unwanted habits are something they need to manage.
From a neuroscience perspective, these responses are not chosen behaviours.
They are automatic outputs generated by the brain’s threat detection systems.
The amygdala and limbic system are constantly scanning for danger.
When something is interpreted as a potential threat, the brain produces a physiological response designed to protect you.
This happens faster than conscious thought.
Which is why you can logically know you’re safe…
and still experience anxiety, panic, or intrusive reactions.
Traditional approaches often focus on conscious strategies
thinking differently, coping mechanisms, or behavioural control.
But these approaches do not always reach the level
where the response is being generated.
Hypnotherapy works differently.
By guiding the brain into a focused, trance state (associated with alpha and theta brainwave activity),
we are able to reduce analytical interference and access the processes responsible for automatic responses.
Research shows that hypnosis can influence brain regions involved in:
• emotional regulation
• perception
• attention
• habitual responses
This creates the conditions for neuroplastic change
allowing the brain to update patterns that are no longer relevant or necessary.
Using a Rapid Resolution Therapy approach,
I work with the mind to correctly interpret what it is responding to.
When the brain recognises there is no immediate threat,
the protective response naturally resolves.
No force.
No repeated exposure.
No ongoing management.
This is why many clients experience change far more quickly than expected.
Because we are not working at the level of symptoms.
We are working at the level where the response is created.
