The most common symptom of thyroid cancer is a painless lump in the neck. Other symptoms include:

A hoarse voice that has no obvious cause
Difficulty swallowing
Difficulty breathing
Pain in the front of the neck

Be aware of the common symptoms of childhood cancer, such as headaches that don't go away, being sick, constant tiredness and persistent pain. If you notice any of these signs, contact your GP immediately. Early diagnosis saves lives.

The HPV vaccine is given to boys to help protect against a range of cancers, including head, neck and mouth cancers.

All boys born after 1st September 2009 who missed their vaccination can catch up at their GP practice until their 25th birthday
