We’re delighted to share some uplifting news- after a brief pause, our much-loved Befriending Service has officially relaunched. We know how valuable this service is to so many in our community, and we’re thrilled to see it return 💙
The Befriending Service is designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation for people in Rossendale, particularly those who may be elderly, living with long-term health conditions, or who have limited opportunities for social interaction. Over the years, it has made a meaningful difference in the lives of many local residents—bringing companionship, emotional support, and a sense of connection that can truly brighten someone’s day.
We’re proud to introduce our new Befriending Co-ordinator, Sofia, who brings both experience and compassion to the role. Sofia shared the following message:
"I am looking forward to coordinating this important service as it means a lot to many people in Rossendale. I have worked for Rossendale Hospice for 15 years as a Palliative Support Worker, and I enjoy providing comfort to patients and families. Being part of something that helps people feel less alone and more supported in their daily lives is incredibly rewarding."
As we relaunch, we’re excited to continue building on the positive impact our service has had in the past. This service is available to those living with a long-term or life-limiting illness who may be socially isolated. Service users must also be registered with a Rossendale GP. Together, we can help to ensure that our community feels less alone.
