Kickstart: Not instant results — just the foundations hair needs to grow

“So useful.”
“Very well structured, clear and concise.”
“Reminders with explanations as to why and how things work.”
“Daily tips I now include in my diet and lifestyle.”

These were the words that came up again and again after the last 14-Day Hair Growth Kickstart.

And it’s important to be honest 👇
This challenge isn’t about instant results or miracle regrowth in 14 days — hair simply doesn’t work like that.

What it does do is help you understand what hair actually needs to grow, and how your scalp, nutrition, stress and daily habits all play a role.

That’s why people described it as:
• Relaxed and friendly
• Informative
• Useful
• Easy to keep up over time

We start Monday — and it’s not too late to join.

If hair has been on your mind, this is a simple, supportive place to start.

Hair thinning and hair shedding are often early warning signs, not just cosmetic changes.

Hair is one of the first places the body shows when something isn’t quite right — increased stress, nutritional gaps, hormonal shifts, illness or recovery. Because hair isn’t essential for survival, it’s often affected early when the body is under strain.

The longer these changes are left, the fewer options people often have.

Not all hair loss is genetic.
And not all hair loss is inevitable.

The FREE Kickstart Hair Growth Challenge is designed to help you act sooner rather than later, by focusing on the foundations hair needs to grow.

Starts 12 January.
If hair has been on your mind, don’t ignore it.

hair growth

Over the last few weeks I’ve been having lots of quiet conversations with people who are worried about their hair.

It’s not always obvious hair loss. Sometimes it’s thinning, more shedding, breakage, or hair that just doesn’t feel as good as it used to — like it’s lost its mojo.

Hair often acts as a kind of barometer of health. Changes can show up when we’re under stress, out of balance, going through hormonal shifts, illness, or recovery. And it’s not always “just genetics”.

That’s why I’ve created the Kickstart Hair Growth Challenge.

It’s a FREE, short, online challenge where I’ll be sharing simple, practical guidance around the foundations of hair growth — food, lifestyle, stress and scalp health — without overwhelm.

People are already signing up, which tells me how many of us are quietly concerned and just want a clear place to start.

It starts on Monday 12 th January and it’s open to anyone worried about their hair, including during or after chemotherapy.

If this feels helpful for you (or someone you know), just comment Kickstart or message me and I’ll send the details.

Over the last few weeks, I haven’t been as present on here and in my Facebook group as usual.

Not because I’ve lost passion for my work – but because life felt very full, and I needed to step back and take care of myself.

Alongside building my business and launching a new hair growth programme, I’ve been juggling family life, which means everything to me, and supporting my mum who is living with Alzheimer’s, alongside my dad. It’s a lot to hold.

I often remind my clients that they can’t pour from an empty cup – and I realised I needed to take my own advice.

This work is something I truly love, but it can also be emotionally demanding. When you combine that with everything else life brings, there comes a point where rest isn’t optional – it’s necessary.

Taking time away from social media wasn’t about stepping away from my purpose.
It was about creating space to breathe, reset, and refill my own glass.

Thank you for being here.

Most women are not eating enough protein—and it shows in their hair.

Protein is crucial for hair strength because it's the building block of keratin, the fibre that makes up each strand. Without enough protein, hair becomes fragile, breaks easily, and sheds more.

I often see clients surprised that shampoo alone won't fix hair loss. Nutrition, hormones, stress and scalp health all matter—but protein is a foundation you can't overlook.

How to include enough in your diet:
• Aim for protein at every meal—think eggs, fish, lean meats, beans and dairy.
• Don't rely solely on plant proteins; mixing sources helps cover all essential amino acids.
• If appetite is low, try smoothies with protein powder or nut butters.

Your body is giving you information—listen to it. If your hair feels weak or thinning, check your protein intake first.

You don't need perfection; consistency is enough. Small, steady changes in your diet can support stronger, healthier hair over time.

Common myths about hair loss often hold you back from genuine progress.

Hair doesn't fall out for no reason. Yet many believe shampoo alone can fix thinning hair or that stress causes instant shedding. The reality is more complex.

Nutrition, hormones, stress and scalp health all matter. Most women are not eating enough protein, which is essential for healthy hair growth. Hair loss linked to perimenopause or thyroid issues needs more than a quick fix.

Your body is giving you information — listen to it. A root-cause, diagnostic approach helps you take practical, consistent steps. You don't need perfection; consistency is enough.

If you're feeling frustrated by slow results or conflicting advice, it might be time to reset your approach. Shampoo alone won't fix hair loss, but a personalised plan including nutrition, scalp care and lifestyle changes can make a real difference.

Have any of these myths held you back? What has your experience been?

Remember, true progress starts with understanding why your hair is changing — and what you can realistically do next.

You don’t need the perfect routine — consistency is enough.

Trying to get everything “right” can become overwhelming, especially if you’re dealing with thinning or shedding. Instead, focus on simple, steady habits that support your scalp and hair over time.

Think gentle cleansing that suits your scalp, enough protein through the day, balanced nutrition, and using only the products your scalp actually needs. Shampoo alone won’t fix hair loss — it’s just one part of the picture.

Your body is always giving you information. If your routine feels like a chore or you miss a day, it doesn’t undo your progress. Hair doesn’t fall out for no reason, but it also doesn’t need perfection to improve.

Small, manageable steps build the strongest foundations.
What one simple change could you start this week?

Hair thinning in midlife isn’t random — it’s your body sending you messages.

Stress and nutrition play a huge role through perimenopause. When cortisol rises, it disrupts the hair growth cycle and pushes more hairs into shedding. But it’s rarely just one thing. Missed meals, disrupted sleep, low protein and nutrient gaps all add up quietly in the background.

Most women simply aren’t eating enough protein, and it matters more than you think. Protein supports the structure of your hair, stabilises blood sugar and helps keep your hormones more balanced. Without it, your scalp feels the strain and growth can slow.

If you’ve noticed shedding recently, look back 2–4 months — that’s usually when the trigger began.

And remember: shampoo alone won’t fix hair loss.

Nutrition, hormones, stress and scalp health all play a part. Small, consistent shifts in your daily habits can make a real difference.

This is the work I help women with every day — understanding why their hair is changing and what practical steps actually support growth again. You don’t need perfection; consistency really is enough.

Hair doesn’t fall out for no reason — and as a stylist, you’re often the first to notice the early signs.

After more than 40 years in hairdressing, and now working as a Trichologist, I’ve seen how much clients rely on their stylist when something changes with their hair or scalp. But most salons simply haven’t been given the training to understand what those early signs actually mean.

This is why I now teach practical, evidence-based hair and scalp education for salon professionals.
Not medical training — just the essential knowledge every stylist should have:

recognising early thinning or shedding

spotting common scalp conditions

understanding the impact of hormones, stress and nutrition

knowing when to reassure and when to refer

supporting clients with confidence instead of guessing

One salon owner recently told me her team now “feels equipped rather than helpless” when clients mention concerns. That’s exactly the outcome I want — less guessing, more understanding, and better support for clients.

You don’t need perfection; just a clearer understanding of what you’re seeing every day behind the chair.

If you’d like your team to feel more confident recognising the root causes of hair and scalp changes, I’m always happy to support.
