Rowans Hospice is delighted to share that our Hospice at Home team will now be using a brand-new electric vehicle, provided through a three-year fully funded lease by Select Car Leasing , one of the UK’s largest independent specialists for car and van leasing.

This generous support ensures our nurses have a reliable, safe and cost-effective vehicle for travelling to patients across the community, often at short notice and covering many miles each week.

The move to an electric vehicle also brings important environmental benefits. A typical petrol car driving around 20,000 miles a year can emit more than 5 tonnes of CO2. By switching to electric, we remove those emissions entirely from our Hospice at Home service. This support will also reduce running costs for the team, helping funds go further while continuing to support the people who rely on us.

The vehicle will also be essential in supporting our Hospice at Home Team with the new Emergency End of Life Response Team program in partnership with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust .

Chris Griffiths, Operations Director at Rowans Hospice said:

“We are incredibly grateful to Select Car Leasing for their generous support. This electric vehicle will make a real difference to our Hospice at Home team, who travel many miles each day to care for patients at the end of life. It not only reduces our environmental footprint but also eases the pressure on our nurses, who often use their own cars. We cannot thank Select Car Leasing enough for helping us continue delivering outstanding care across our community.”
