would you know at what point to get a residents mouth ulcer checked?

If an ulcer lasts more than 3 weeks you should always ask your dental team or doctor for advice.
more often then not it is nothing to worry about however its best to be safe as sadly some can be signs of mouth cancer.

other causes of ulcers include:

✅️ Tooth brush trauma
✅️ I'll fitting dentures
✅️ sharp tooth or filling edges
✅️ anaemia
✅️ blood disorders

Let us tell you a bit more about dry mouth.

Causes include:

💊 Taking certain or multiple medications
🚬 Smoking
💤 Mouth breathing at night
🎗 Cancer treatments
😖 Auto immune conditions such as sjorgen syndrome
🍷 Drinking alcohol

Dry mouth can lead to the following:

😭 Discomfort
🧀 Difficulties eating
🦷 Increased risk of tooth decay
🩸 Increased risk of gum disease
🗣 Difficulties speaking and swallowing
👅 Increased risk of ulcers
👃 Bad breath

When filling out mouth care assessment forms for new residents its important this is noted so correct care can be provided!
