Tarot card for the week: The Wheel of Fortune.
This card refers to the fact that things tend to go in cycles. We have good times, and we have bad times. The lesson of the wheel of fortune is that you must except the ups and downs of life, for if we only had good times, we would be less appreciative of what we have already. The bad times provide you with the contrast that enables you to see how blessed you are when the good times come. When life seems at it’s worst this only suggests that it can only get better.!! This doesn’t mean you should stand still and except what life has handed you. When you’re on the downside of the wheel, you can take and active hand to get back to the upside, therefore speeding up the recovery. The message of the wheel is “Do not be discouraged when faced with Adversity “. Adversity is a natural part of life, and should be expected from time to time. The Wheel of Fortune is about keeping optimistic and having faith in the Universe that it will take care of the situation the best way possible. “Through all the changes that the universe brings, I feel the centre of stability which is within me”.

Reiki
One of the oldest and simplest forms of healing is Reiki. Rei means universal wisdom and Ki means life energy, therefore Reiki means universal life energy. Ki energy is the vital flowing life force contained in all life, which is also known as Chi or Prana. Reiki provides a way of channeling this energy, allowing it to be used for healing.
Good health is a question of being in balance, in body, mind and spirit. If our natural equilibrium is upset, then Ki or energy cannot flow properly and we become ill.
Sadly, in this Western world, our healing skills have been temporarily neglected or forgotten. Thus we have given up the power to heal ourselves. At a time when the pace of life is becoming faster and faster and demands on our bodies and minds becoming greater and greater, this could not be more needed.
How many people do you know who have difficulty sleeping ?? The stress of life, the pressure of work, the emotional overload of deadlines......not enough hours in the day.......the guilt for not getting it all done. The mind is over loaded. When we worry we have forgotten there is a reason for everything. To worry is to have lost trust that everything will be ok. Worry creates limitations. Worry creates lack of sleep, lack of sleep causes imbalance, imbalance causes illness.
A Reiki Treatment is a natural healing that benefits on many levels; mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Clients are treated fully clothed and lying comfortable on a couch, but if this is not possible treatment can be given while seated.
It is non- denominational and completely confidential. It relieves pain, enhances therapeutic touch, and will leave you feeling deeply relaxed and with a wonderful sense of well being.
In a world where there is so much suffering and pain, Reiki comforts, calms, soothes and releases emotional trauma. It cannot be misused, nor can it do harm.
Most importantly, people like myself, who transmit Reiki energy are not healers. We are just instruments for this energy. The person who receives the energy is harmonised so that their body can heal itself naturally. They are empowered in their healing process. There is a natural relationship, a partnership. The recipient is always the healer.
Reiki is a healing vibration that belongs to everyone, and is for everyone. It heals with love.
Treatments are approximately 1 hour cost £20
Fully Qualified, insured therapist. Reiki Master / teacher for over 20 yrs.

This is the body’s most powerful primal muscle , that you have probably never heard of.... the psoas.
Your hips are the centre of your body’s movement, they are the bridge between your upper and lower body.
Sitting within your hip and lumber vertebrae is the psoas major muscle. Often referred to as the mighty psoas ( pronounced so-as)as it it plays many very important functions in the movement of your body.
*interesting fact ;The psoas is the only muscles in the human body connecting the upper body to the lower body.
It attaches to the lumber vertebrae, moves through the pelvis and connects to a tendon at the top of the femur. It also attaches to your diaphragm, so it’s connected to your breathing, and upon it sits major organs.
A properly functioning psoas muscle creates pelvic alignment, stabilising the hips, supporting the lower back and abdomen, giving you great mobility and core strength.
What is the worst thing for your psoas muscle ?..... SITTING !!
No matter how active you are you may still suffer from a tight psoas due to the amount of time you spend each day planted in a chair.
Weakness, shortening and tightness develop in the muscle from sitting for extended periods of time, contributing to poor sleep, posture and even stress and tension. Sitting all day causes your hips to become stuck in a forward thrust position. This leads to pulling on the lower back, and decreased blood flow and circulation. By pulling the lumber spine forward the upper body misaligns and rests on the ischial tuberosity ( sitting bones)rather than being evenly distributed along the arch of the spine. This greater pull puts a lot of strain on the lumber spine and can lead to herniated discs.
A few simple stretches every morning can insure you keep this important muscle flexible. Also if your job is sitting all day, try to get up at regular intervals to stretch and move about.
I provide a specialist back treatment involving ultra sound, deep remedial massage and acupressure. Fully qualified and insured with over 20yrs experience. 1 hour treatment only £25. Please call 07881932897

Thought for today:

When you ask for happiness and a beautiful life, ask not just for you, but ask for everyone.
When you ask for something better, ask not just for you, but for everyone. By all means ask for abundance and health for you, but also ask for it to be given to everyone.

Can you imagine what would happen if six billion people asked for these things for you.?

Back Pain: While doctors disagree about many of the details, they do agree that either stress or weak muscles cause most back problems.
Here is how stress and tension build up to produce pain.: Your late, the car won’t start, the traffic is terrible, your mobile phone rings, the person behind is sounding his horn. You can’t hear, your shoulders have gradually crept up to the bottom of your ears, your knuckles are white gripping the steering wheel, irritation causes tense muscles. On top of this money worries, family problems and fatigue produce further emotional strain, and emotion effects your muscles.
In fact inadvertently you already sub- concisely know this: remember all those sayings?? A particular problem being a “ pain in the neck “, or that certain person that is a “ pain in the behind”, or the whole situation that is” one big headache”.
Added to all this in today’s modern lifestyle we ride, sit and do most of our menial chores by machine. This has lead to us all becoming very under exercised.
Most of us sit all day at our jobs, and we also sit during much of our leisure times as well. When sitting, your back muscles work to hold you erect, but your stomach goes slack, your hip flexors are inactive. They become weak. This puts severe strain on your back muscles, which have to do the job of keeping your spine erect alone, without the support of other muscles. They cannot perform this alone, the strain is too much, and they go into spasm.

Some Interesting Facts About Your Back:
Today back pain is one of the most common of all physical complaints in the world.
20 million working days are lost in Britain each year because of back pain.
Much as it can ruin your life, your back is a remarkable instrument:
24 Moveable bones,2 sets of fused bones and 23 discs compose your spinal column.
Strap- like lengths of fibrous tissues called ligaments tie all these bones together
Back muscles, whose job is also to keep the joints within their normal range of movement, hold up the whole column.
Equally important are your abdominal muscles, which work with your back muscles to support and stabilise.
The first 7 bones at the top of the spine are the cervical or neck vertebrae. These are the smallest vertebrae, and have a wide range of movement to allow you to bend and move your head.
The next 12 bones are the thoracic or chest vertebrae. They are larger than the cervical vertebrae, but are not very mobile. Your ribs are attached to them.
The last 5 bones are the lumber or lower back vertebrae. They are the largest vertebrae. They have to be, since they support the weight of your upper body. Very large muscles attach to them, and because of these two facts they are very vulnerable to abuse, injury and pain.
The sacrum and coccyx are last. These two sets of fused bones move together as one. They are located in the curve of your pelvis.
On top of all this you have 23 discs. Each one is a cushion and a shock absorber. Each disc is filled with fluid.
As you sit and stand during a normal day the weight of your body, and the pull of gravity squeezes this fluid from your discs.
So at the end of a normal working day you can lose from 1/2 - 3/4 inch in height, but lay down for the night, with no downward pressure, and the discs “ plump” up again with moisture, so in the morning you are your ‘ normal” height again. But there is a life long shrinking that is more permanent, and by the time you are 70 yrs the water content of your discs will be reduced by 70%.

Your positive thought for the day:
One of the main reason why so many people fail to get what they want in life is because they actually don’t definitely know what they do want, and change their wants almost every day.
“Know what you want and continue to want it. You will get it if you combine desire with faith. The power of desire when combined with faith becomes invincible”
Christian D Larson (1874-1954)

My very first introduction to the work I do and love was many years ago ( I’ve being trying to think how many, and it’s got to be at least 27 years!!), was I course I went on called “Touch For Health “. The basics of which is balance. Everything needs to be in balance to function at its prime. Man is a structural, chemical and psychological being, and there must be a balance between the three. An example is stress. Stress is a psychological problem, but causes extreme imbalance in the structural side: tight tense shoulders, ( burden on your shoulders, taking on too much in life )painful neck, aching lower back, it also causes chemical imbalances, releasing adrenaline ( fight or flight), which in its self is a toxic poison to the body, and causes over working of kidneys and liver, which in turn cause headaches, and urine infections caused by dehydration.
Over the years I have done many different courses. Putting years of learning and experience together, I’ve taken aspects of all these corses and devised my own treatment for back neck and shoulder problems. But the bases of which is balance. The human body is the most marvellous and incredible thing. It has back up systems for its back up systems, and no matter what you try to do to it, it will keep you going no matter what.
I often think if we had a car and treated it like we do our body, we wouldn’t be surprised if it broke down .!!

People talk about muscles being “tight” or in spasm, causing pain and pulling the spine out of line. But it isn’t the muscle spasm causing the trouble, but the weak muscle on one side of the body that can cause normal muscles opposing to become or seem tight. The mechanism works like this: Fig 1 and Fig 2 below.
Think of a kitchen door, held in place by two springs. As long as the tension on both springs is equal, the system is in balance and works perfectly. If one spring gets weak, the opposing spring takes up the slack and ties itself in knots.. No matter how much you oil that knotted spring it will not rebalance the system. The trick is to unknot the knotted side and strengthen the weak side.
I don’t expect any of you have thought of yourself as a kitchen door before !!😄
