On The Care Cast, Sarah O’Sullivan from Renaissance Legal explains a common misunderstanding around payments and expenses.

While reasonable out of pocket costs can be reimbursed, the role is not one that automatically allows payment for time.

It is a subtle but important distinction for families supporting someone, particularly when managing care arrangements such as live-in care.

While the day to day may become more involved, the guiding principle stays the same. Every decision should be made as if you were stepping into that person’s shoes.

What is the real difference between a care home and live-in care?

After trying pop-in carers and spending nine months in a care home, Stuart’s mum is now supported by a live-in carer at home.

On The Care Cast, Stuart, a client of The Live In Care Company, explains what has made the biggest difference.

“Continuity of care… almost having a live-in companion that’s there 24/7.”

No constant shift changes.
No unfamiliar faces every few weeks.
Just one consistent, trusted person in her own home.

More than a year later, his verdict is clear:

“It’s streets ahead… it suits my mum.”

If you are currently weighing up care options for someone you love, live-in care could offer the stability and reassurance your family is looking for.

What is The Live In Care Company?

The Live In Care Company is dedicated to providing you with highly experienced and skilled carers to create a happy, reliable and positive experience for both client and carer.

Live-in care is the term that is used to describe a trained and experienced carer moving into the home of a person to provide care, companionship and domestic support around the clock.

It has the benefit of allowing the person being cared for to remain within their familiar environment, a home they know, neighbours and friends nearby, and the things they have grown to love and be comforted by. Understanding when you or a loved one may have come to the point when need additional support may not be straight forward. It may also be difficult for someone to admit that they cannot do some of the tasks that they used to find easy.
