Happy St. George's Day 🌹

Today we celebrate St. George, the patron saint of England. Written about for centuries, St. George and the flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿are symbols of our blessed country.

William Shakespeare, who passed away 410 years ago today, wrote in his play Henry V, as part of his "Once more into the breach" speech,

"Cry ‘God for Harry, England, and Saint George!’"

Therefore for England and St. George, we say - Happy St. George's Day!!! 🌹🌹🌹

This year's theme is Our Power, Our Planet, emphasising that environmental stewardship is sustained by people rather than politics.

If you are planning on visiting family graves and memorials over the next few days, please be careful around the cemeteries and graveyards. The ground can be soft and wet and there is a possibility there will be no staff around.

Our team will be available after Christmas should you need to arrange any repairs, renovations or cleaning of your loved ones memorials.

We are honoured to have been asked by The Scroll Church to cast the commemorative plaque for their Memorial Garden.

The plaque lists the names of all those whom had their ashes scattered in the grounds of St. Thomas' Church in Watford, before it closed and the congregation moved to the Scroll Church in North Watford.

Those gathered at the unveiling commented how the plaque glistened in the early March sunshine. Our Managing Director, Adam K Ginder and Memorial Manager, Jenny Boyle attended the service and ceremony today, commenting how delighted the church was with the plaque as a lasting memorial.

Today we recognise Holocaust Memorial Day, when we remember the millions of people killed during the Holocaust, under N**i Persecution and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

2025 marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War. Today, His Majesty The King will visit Auschwitz to pay his respects to those killed.

More information about the Holocaust is available via www.hmd.org.uk or if you are local we have some information booklets at our Head Office.

Last week we were delighted to be invited by Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care to the unveiling of their commemorative plaque recognising the ten key people involved in the establishment of the Peace Hospice in Watford.

The plaque was engraved and fitted by our team at Ginder Memorials. We are honoured to be asked to provide this plaque, highlighting the expertise and variety of services provided by our memorial team.

M. K. Ginder & Sons Funeral Directors have been long time supporters and business partners with both hospices before the merger and now the combined hospice care provided to our local community.

The Peace Hospice was established in 1991 and has been serving our local community for the past 33 years.

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, when Allied Forces by Land, Sea and Air invaded Normandy, Northern France to liberate Europe from the control of N**i Germany.

Ceremonies across Normandy, as well as others close to home, in town and villages will recognise this momentous event during the Second World War.

Let us remember those which lost their lives in the D-Day battles today, so that we can live ours lives now.
