💪 Confidence is my Superpower by Alicia Ortego

This week we will talk a lot about confidence on my kids yoga classes! We will practise Warrior I, II & III yoga postures and some powerful affirmations to boost our confidence 😀

These are just some of the mindful affirmations which helps us to overcome challenging situations: “I am loved! I am enough! I can choose! I am brave! I am amazing! Failures are ok, we learn from them!"

🌿 This book is great if you want to get it as it helps your little ones to believe in themselves and love themselves as they are, overcome the fear of failure and understand that failures are one step on the path to success, face their negative feelings and turn them into positive ones. It also helps with looking at life from a brighter side and never give up on their goals, support each other and help those in need.

This book is suitable for all ages, ESPECIALLY those looking for their superpower.

Grounding in the grass, breathing with the earth 🌿
While my son runs freely, chasing the ball and his joy ⚽️

This moment… simple, present, enough.
Feet rooted, heart open, mind quiet.

Learning from nature and from him — how to just be.
No rush, no noise, just connection.

Grateful for these little pockets of peace 💚

✨️ Mindfulness bottle you can make with your child at home

The bottle of water has 3 different colours of glitter. Each colour represents different thing (thoughts, feelings and behaviours). They would shake it when they feel upset, sad, angry or anxious and watch the glitter to settle down which visually represents mind settling. So kids learn when they stay still and focus on their deep slow breath for a while, they can respond better to any situation in their life, rather then react! They should practice this (with or without the bottle) when they are calm! This fantastic tool can help them to calm them down or learn how to self-regulate (even parents can use this bottle!) 😉

The first step for children in developing more skilled responses is learning how to pause and be aware of what they are feeling. When children are able to identify how they feel and feel it, without rushing to react, they are practicing resilience in action. When they can choose a response, they have a lot more options. There are simple tools that kids can start using immediately to build those inner recourses like breathing excercises.

⭐ Below is an example how I explain it to children:

“Imagine that the glitter is like your thoughts & feelings when you’re stressed, angry or upset. See how they whirl around and make it really hard to see clearly? That’s why it’s so easy to make silly decisions when you’re upset – because you’re not thinking clearly. Don’t worry this is normal and it happens in all of us (yep, grownups too)."

"Watch what happens when you’re still for a couple of moments. Keep watching. See how the glitter starts to settle and the water clears? Your mind works the same way. When you’re calm for a little while, your thoughts start to settle and you start to see things much clearer. Deep breaths during this calming process can help us settle when we feel a lot of emotions.”

Please remember that it takes a lot of repetition to learn something new. Continually let your child use the calm-down bottle ( ) whenever needed. Don’t give up if it doesn’t work first couple of times! Be a role model, use the calming tool over and over.

🌿 This week’s mindful activity in our kids yoga classes

🧘‍♀️ We’re exploring the difference between what we can control and what we can’t. Each child is invited to draw or write their thoughts, then place them:

⭕ Inside the hula hoop – things we can control (our actions, choices, kindness)

🌦 Outside the hoop – things we can’t control (weather, others’ opinions, unexpected events)

A simple but powerful way to help children feel more grounded, confident, and empowered in their everyday lives 💛

Inspired by 🙏🏼

We’ll also be adding some fun movement with yoga obstacle challenges and playful yoga games 🤸‍♀️

Building strong bodies, calm minds, and resilient hearts

Mindful blossom 🌸 art we created yesterday with one young girl at an event. She was very kind and creative.

Children live where we’re always trying to return — in the present moment ✨

No rushing, no overthinking, no holding onto yesterday or worrying about tomorrow… just now.

Maybe we don’t need to search so far for peace...Maybe we just need to come back to the moment, like they do 🌿

🌸 Mindfulness activity of this week

In this gentle and creative activity, children were invited to connect with nature while expressing themselves through art. Using delicate flower petals, leaves, and natural materials, they decorated Easter egg shapes, creating something beautiful and unique.

Children were encouraged to slow down, notice the colours, textures, and scents of the petals, and stay present in the moment. As they created, I guided them to take calm breaths, relax their bodies, and enjoy the process rather than focusing on the outcome.

This activity symbolises renewal, growth, and new beginnings. It complements our yoga practice by nurturing creativity, focus, and a sense of inner calm.
A lovely way for children to explore mindfulness, creativity, and the beauty of nature—one petal at a time 🌸

🐣🥕🐇 Spring & Easter Kids Yoga classes

We will go on imaginary eggciting Spring and Easter Egg Hunt in next few weeks. We will be practising some spring theme yoga postures like life cycle of a butterfly 🦋 life cycle of a frog 🐸 and life cycle of a plant 🌱

Bunny Breath 🐰 we will practise this fun breathing this week. Take 3 quick sniffs in through the nose and one long breath out the nose. We will pretend to be bunnies, sniffing the air and looking for 🥕

We will play Yoga eggs game, where I hide different animals in small Easter eggs and then they have to find them and do the yoga animal pose.

Relaxation time at the end wil be about reflecting on changes over time and in natural world. How we have lots to learn from nature 🌳

🤸‍♀️ Yoga classes are a great way for children to connect with themselves and others, to build resilience and confidence. Yoga and mindfulness gives the children tools for self regulation, which I think all parents will agree, is so important in today's world! 💪

🕊 I am Peace - Book of Mindfulness by Susan Verde and Peter Reynolds

☮ This week we will talk about Peace and how we can become more peaceful & calm by using our slow deep breaths, how we can spread the peace around us by being more kind, mindful and compassionate!

Sometimes its not that easy and it takes practise for us adults and children! That's why yoga stretches, breathing techniques & relaxation are great tools to have when needed! 💖

Children have a lot to navigate in this world. They are learning how to make good choices and manage their emotions. They are learning how to be kind to themselves and others while keeping up with schoolwork and balancing their busy lives. Practising Mindfulness can give kids the tools to help them on their journey.

But what does this word actually mean? Mindfulness means being fully engaged in the present moment, paying careful attention to our experience (our feelings, sensations in the body, emotions, surroundings) without judgement, but with kindness and curiosity. Teaching mindfulness exercises not only strengthen a child's "attention muscle" but it also helps them to learn to create distance between their big emotions and themselves. Children develop the ability to choose their responses rather than react.

We will also practise this week yoga poses which are good for stretching tight hamstrings (downward facing dog, ragdoll pose and happy baby pose).

Love & Peace to you all.

Yana 💕
