❄ Happy New Year ❄️

Hope you all had a nice holidays and feel refreshed. I certainly do! ✨️ Most of my yoga clubs will restart from this week and I look forward to see all the children.

In next few weeks we will experience the benefits of yoga with the children by acting out what we see and hear in winter with this interactive yoga story, Jenny's Winter Walk by Giselle Shardlow.

In this book, Jenny meets various animals on a winter walk with her mom. We will pretend to be a squirrel 🐿 a fox 🦊 a deer 🦌 and a bunny 🐰 This story links several yoga poses in a specific sequence to create a coherent and meaningful story.

We will also practise our "Hot chocolate breathing" and "Snowflake breathing". I teach children that breath is our invisible friend, its always there to help us to feel calmer, or release anxiety and feel more relaxed!

We will talk about not just physical strength but also mental and emotional strength. How becoming aware and accepting different feelings (not suppressing them!) is the first step to emotional strength!

πŸŽ… Christmas Kids Yoga Classes

This week will be a bit festive on my kids yoga classes as the special time of the year is nearly here!

We will pretend to make a gingerbread cookie through yoga poses, Christmas trees πŸŽ„ snowmen β˜ƒοΈ candle poses and Santa in sleigh (Boat pose) and reindeer (Downward facing dog pose). We will be sledging on the mat (Bow pose), ice skating (Dancer pose), making pretend snow angels, practising hot chocolate breathing and imagining sitting in front of the fire πŸ”₯

❄ We will practise the balancing poses with my soft snowballs on our heads and snowball breathing

🎁 Also we will talk about Giving and Receiving of gifts - how our kindness and respect can be even bigger gift to our loved ones then actual presents (which should be throughout the year)!

❄️ Snowflake breathing practise in next few weeks on kids yoga classes.

This is calming mindful exercise where children imagine catching a snowflake on their hand, while holding this soft foam snowflake ❄️

They will trace slowly outlines of the snowflake and breathing in and out while doing that.

This exercise help children to calm their body and mind and bring them back to the present moment ❄️

πŸ’ͺ Mindful activity of the week with the school kids is to write/draw the things we can control and things we can't. Children are asked to write/draw it on a piece of paper and put it either inside of a hula hoop which will represent things we can control, or outside of the hula hoop will be things they think they can't control.

This will hopefully EMPOWER them to focus on things they can control in their life now and in future πŸ™πŸΌ

We played yoga memory cards game at the nursery today. Children took turns to find matching yoga poses and then we practiced them together 🦁
