πŸ’ͺ Mindful activity of the week with the school kids is to write/draw the things we can control and things we can't. Children are asked to write/draw it on a piece of paper and put it either inside of a hula hoop which will represent things we can control, or outside of the hula hoop will be things they think they can't control.

This will hopefully EMPOWER them to focus on things they can control in their life now and in future πŸ™πŸΌ

🌿 I went for a wonderful nature walk today with my friend Anna's group at Boxmore woods. We did forest bathing and drumming 🌿

We walked mindfuly, listened to the nature sounds and noticed colours, textures and smells of Autumn trees 🌳 πŸ‚ this was such a peaceful time fully present in the moment!

I teach similar mindfulness practise in my kids yoga classes using the five senses 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique that involves focusing on one's senses to become more present, especially when feeling overwhelmed 😞

I ask children to notice in the room 5 things they can see, 4 things they can touch, 3 things they can hear, 2 things they can smell and 1 thing they can taste. We practiced this mindful technique last week on my classes πŸ™πŸΌ

Using these 5 senses mindfuly helps us come back to the present moment and without judgement, and then helps us feel calmer.

✨️ Good Night Yoga πŸ¦‰

This week we will explore this lovely book by Mariam Gates. Its a story of the natural world as it closes down for the night while teaching children a simple flow of yoga postures inspired by their favourite characters from nature. πŸŽƒ Pumpkin yoga classes

We are going on imaginary adventures to a pumpkin farm this week. We will pretend to be pumpkins, bats, spiders, Autumn trees etc. 🍁

We will do Skeleton warm up with kids' favourite foam skeleton, stretching different parts of the body while looking for foam bones one by one!

We will practise 'Hot Chocolate' breathing this week 🍡 which is another way kids can self-regulate their feelings whenever they need to. We will pretend with hands that we hold a cup of hot chocolate, and with slow, deep breaths, we'll try to cool it down.
Another breathing tool in their 'Feelings regulation tool box' πŸ™πŸΌ

Yoga game of the week will be variation of the game 'What's the time Mr Wolf', but we will pretend to freeze in a yoga pose.

Conquering fears and anxiety through these powerful yoga postures!

We will talk about how we all feel fears sometimes, even adults, but we need to feel the fear and do it anyway! Few years ago I read a book by Susan Jeffers "Feel the Fear and do it anyway" and it inspired me that we can't wait until we don't feel fear of doing something we want to do (lets say start something new) but we need to feel this feeling of fear, breathe through it and do it anyway!

Warrior poses are great to find that strength inside us and say positive affirmations like "I am brave!", "I am courageous!", "I can do it!" πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ
