πŸ‚πŸŒΏ This week, we will talk about Autumn and changes in nature. Pretending to be trees in the tree pose and letting go of leaves, which would symbolise letting go of worries, anxiety, or any unwanted feelings.

β˜€οΈ Sun Salutations practise this week as well to honour Sun and feel gratitude for everything we have in our lives πŸ™πŸΌβ€οΈ

There are many variations of Sun Salutations for kids as they like to combine yoga poses they know and add different yoga postures they like 🌳

We will play Yoga detective πŸ”Ž to spot which yoga pose we missed on purpose while practising it, taking turns to show their Sun Salutation

🍁 The autumn term has just started, and I look forward to seeing all the children joining my yoga clubs this term.

We will talk about worries this week as 'back to school' can be a bit of a mixed feelings. Some children feel happy going back to school or starting reception class. However, some can feel anxious or worried about it!

Children are usually thought to recognise their emotions when they are at extreme (anger, excitement, happiness etc.). However, do we teach our children to notice the feelings that lead up to the extreme?!

We can teach children (and remind ourselves) to become aware of these subtle changes in mood and emotions. We can ask them when they are excited about their new toy, where in their body they can feel it? Do they have butterflies in their tummy? Another situation can be when they are getting upset, how their tummy feels then, maybe tight?

πŸ’¨ Controlled breathing promotes calm and helps relax the body (releases muscle tension). Because of this, using deep breathing in day to day life is a great way of encouraging children (and us adults) to release worries, stress and anxiety.

Taking time out from screens, distractions and the stresses of the day to look inwards and think about how we feel in the moment can help to manage anxiety. I use a lot 'Inside weather check' where children tune in and check how they feel weather-wise? For example, if they feel happy, then can say sunny β˜€οΈ if they feel sad they can say instead rainy 🌦 if they feel angry they can say stormy 🌩

I really enjoyed today's private yoga session with these amazing girls β™₯️β™₯️

We had lots of fun practising yoga, going on an imaginary adventure to the seaside 🌊 balancing on yoga blocks with balancing birds and relaxing with crystal.

🌊 Ocean Kids Yoga classes this week

Tree-quarters of the Earth is covered by the ocean. It is in the ocean that the first organic life started (rain, oxygen, climate, salt, minerals etc.). We will remind ourselves to appreciate oceans and gifts that we receive from them.

We will go on an imaginary adventure to the oceans of this world. Our guide will be this amazing book "Yoga Animals at the seashore" by my yoga teacher Christiane Kerr & Jason Hook.

We will practise yoga poses to correspond with our theme, ocean breathing to release any tension and anxiety! We will relax at the end with an ocean guided relaxation to feel more calm and peaceful πŸ™‡β€β™€οΈ

🌊 Sensations and feelings are like a waves in the ocean, some come crashing in, while others roll in gently, and they always come and go. We can't stop the waves from coming, but we can pay attention to them so they don't knock us over! πŸ’ͺ

These will be some of the yoga poses we will practise:

β›΅ Sailboat (Triangle Pose) - from a standing position, step one foot back, take your arms up parallel to the ground, bend at your waist, reach your front hand to gently rest on your shin, and reach your other arm straight up

🌊 Surfboard (Plank Pose) - come down to a plank on your hands and toes as if you’re a surfboard

β›΄ Ship (Boat Pose) - balance on your bottom with your legs up. Then rock in the water like a boat

This beautiful book of Compassion by Susan Verde will be our guide this week on the yoga classes.

Love means showing kindness, living with gratitude and taking care of our minds and bodies.

Letting our hearts lead the way can help move us closer to a better world!

πŸ’ͺ Confidence is my Superpower by Alicia Ortego

This week we will talk a lot about confidence on my kids yoga classes! We will practise Warrior I, II & III yoga postures and some powerful affirmations to boost our confidence πŸ˜€

These are just some of the mindful affirmations which helps us to overcome challenging situations: β€œI am loved! I am enough! I can choose! I am brave! I am amazing! Failures are ok, we learn from them!"

🌿 This book is great if you want to get it as it helps your little ones to
believe in themselves and love themselves as they are, overcome the fear of failure and understand that failures are one step on the path to success, face their negative feelings and turn them into positive ones. It also helps with looking at life from a brighter side and never give up on their goals, support each other and help those in need.

This book is suitable for all ages, ESPECIALLY those looking for their superpower.

The kids love these Yoga cards called "Yoga Pretzels" by Tara Guber and Leah Kalish ❀

There are lots of yoga postures and partner pose cards. I highly recommend them to any parents or teachers to use with their children.

Partner poses are fun and help build trust, connection, and confidence. They promote friendships and teamwork.
