Find your balance. About Siobhan and PresentMind Wellness Pathways

I understand what it's like to navigate the relentless pressures of a demanding professional life, compounded by the unique challenges that come with being a woman in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60s. The juggling act of career, family (including raising my daughter), and personal well-being can often leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from your inner calm. My own journey led me through years in the corporate world, facing high-stress roles, including my time at Shell Trading. There, I was responsible for managing global supply routes – a truly 24/7, demanding operation. It was whilst working at Shell Trading that I was also pursuing my Postgraduate in Maritime Operations at City University. In 2004, a diagnosis of Sjögren's Syndrome brought new complexities, and navigating perimenopause and menopause in my early 40s added significant challenges. These combined experiences, which led to burnout at Shell Trading, became a pivotal point. It was during this intensely challenging period that I discovered the profound, life-changing power of mindfulness. Even more recently, last year, diagnoses of osteoporosis in my spine and osteoarthritis in my hands, knees, and feet brought further personal understanding of managing chronic physical conditions. Through it all, mindfulness hasn't just been a technique; it's been a vital pathway to reclaiming my peace, managing anxiety, navigating physical discomfort with greater ease, and finding a quiet strength I didn't know I had. This personal transformation ignited a deep passion within me to share these invaluable tools. I even returned to Shell Trading post-burnout and was promoted, a testament to mindfulness's profound impact on my resilience and performance. Committed to sharing this transformative power, I formally qualified as a Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher in 2016, deepening my understanding and ability to guide others. My dedication to holistic well-being expanded when I qualified as a Dru Yoga teacher in 2019, enriching my approach to mind-body connection. Further solidifying my commitment to effective teaching, I was awarded a Level 3 Award in Education and Training in 2021. My background is rooted in robust professional training, holding a BA in International Management from Middlesex University (2001). This diverse foundation allows me to understand the unique demands of professional life and translate complex concepts into practical, relatable strategies. At PresentMind Wellness Pathways, my mission is to provide practical, accessible, and compassionate guidance. I draw not only on proven mindfulness and wellbeing techniques but also on my real-world understanding of the challenges you face, offering tailored strategies that fit seamlessly into your busy life. My courses are designed to help you move from overwhelm to a place of inner clarity, from constant worry to genuine peace, and from exhaustion to renewed energy. It's about empowering you with a 'can-do' attitude, focusing on what's truly possible when you nurture your mind and spirit. I believe that every woman deserves to find her calm within. Join me on this journey to less anxiety and more inner peace. ✨ This image, seemingly a black hole, reminds me of the importance of mindfulness. Just as the black hole's gravity pulls everything inward, our thoughts can sometimes overwhelm us. This image encourages me to pause, breathe, and focus on the present moment. To appreciate the immense beauty and mystery of the universe, and to find that same sense of wonder within myself.

Contentment lies in supporting others where we can. Standing with the signatures of my fellow volunteers.

As a volunteer photographer, I met people from all over the world. We laughed together, shared our stories, commiserated, shook our heads, waved our arms and smiled.

I had the opportunity to share my gifts (it's not photography) and in turn received some wonderful support from peers and unexpected places.

The joy of community and the joy of remaining open.

Just wrapped up another 6-week mindfulness course and I'm filled with gratitude! 🙏

Watching participants discover practical tools to self-regulate and feel less overwhelmed, find grounding techniques with everyday objects like seashells, and develop a genuine sense of calm and inner peace has been truly special.

Hearing them say they feel 'calm and peace within themselves' and that our sessions were 'an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy day' reminds me why I'm so passionate about this work.

Seeing complete beginners gain confidence to express themselves in our supportive space - knowing they felt safe to share ideas without judgment - shows the power of what we create together.

The feedback about finding useful tools and discovering that 'how we feel is not right or wrong' captures exactly what mindfulness offers - practical wisdom for daily life.

Ready to find your own oasis of calm? My next 6-week mindfulness course starts soon. Link in bio 💙

The Imperfectly Perfect Practice: Why Your 'Messy' Mindfulness is Powerfully Effective 🌱

Your mind wandered during meditation again? Perfect.
You only managed one mindful breath today instead of ten minutes? That's enough.

Your practice feels scattered, inconsistent, and nothing like those serene Instagram posts? You're doing it exactly right.

Here's the truth they don't tell you about mindfulness: **It's not supposed to be perfect.**

The real magic happens in those moments when you notice your mind has drifted and gently bring it back. That's not failure—that's the practice itself. Every time you catch yourself lost in thought and return to the present, you're building your mindfulness muscle.

Your "messy" mindfulness is actually: ✨

• Teaching you self-compassion in real-time
• Training your brain to notice without judgment
• Building resilience for life's inevitable chaos
• Proving that progress isn't about perfection

Some days you'll meditate for 20 minutes in blissful silence. Other days, you'll practice mindfulness while stuck in traffic, washing dishes, or breathing through a difficult conversation. Both are equally valuable.

**Remember:** A crumpled flower is still beautiful. A well-worn meditation cushion holds more wisdom than a pristine one. Your imperfect practice is not a bug—it's a feature.

Stop waiting for the "right" moment, the perfect setup, or the flawless session. Your beautifully imperfect mindfulness journey starts exactly where you are, exactly as you are.

My practice can be a little messy at times, but it is always with me. 🌸

What does your "imperfect" practice look like today? Share in the comments—let's celebrate the messy, real, and perfectly human side of mindfulness. 💙

Is your phone subtly stealing your peace? Let's reclaim your 'Inbox of Silence'!

We all live in a world of constant notifications, endless scrolling, and digital demands. While our devices connect us, they can also leave us feeling drained, distracted, and far from the present moment.

At PresentMind Wellness Pathways, we understand this subtle energy drain. We're here to show you how to intentionally create pockets of digital quiet throughout your day – moments where you choose calm over chaos, and restoration over constant distraction.

It’s not about rejecting technology entirely, but about empowering you to choose peace and restore your focus. Imagine turning off all non-essential notifications for an hour, creating a "digital sunset" ritual before bed, or designating screen-free zones in your home. These small acts can make a profound difference!

Feeling adrift in a sea of "what ifs"? 🌊

Like a ship tossed in choppy waters, our minds can often get caught in the turbulent currents of future worries. Anxiety frequently pulls us into a "future-tense trap," where our thoughts race ahead, dwelling on potential problems that haven't even arrived. It's utterly exhausting, isn't it?

At PresentMind Wellness Pathways, we believe true calm comes from learning to drop your own inner anchor. Mindfulness isn't about ignoring worries or forcing positivity; it's about gently, yet firmly, redirecting your awareness back to the only moment you truly have: *now*.

Need a quick anchor? Try this simple technique, anytime, anywhere:

1. Feel Your Feet: Notice the sensation of your feet on the ground. Feel the solid earth beneath you, providing unwavering support.

2. Focus on One Object: Pick a single object in your immediate surroundings. Simply *notice* it – its colours, textures, shadows, and contours – for just 30 seconds.

This powerful act can gently redirect your mind from the "what ifs" to the calming reality of "what is." You have the inherent power to steady your mind, even when life's waters feel rough.

Start dropping your inner anchor today. If you're ready to master these powerful techniques and cultivate lasting inner calm and resilience, explore our '6 Weeks to Calm' course.

Making this vegan dandelion 'honey' from 100 hand-picked heads (at dawn!) was a true lesson in the power of the micro-pause. Every single pick, every gentle stir, was a moment of focused presence.

In our fast-paced world, we're often told that constant busyness equals productivity. But let's be honest, doesn't it often lead to feeling utterly overwhelmed, scattered, and like you're just running on fumes? That relentless "go, go, go" can leave us feeling depleted, not productive.

Here's a secret: True strength isn't in perpetual motion, but in strategic pauses. Mindfulness isn't about adding another 'to-do' to your list; it's about discovering the profound impact of a micro-pause. Just 60 seconds of intentional stillness – a deep breath, feeling your feet on the ground, truly tasting your tea – can reset your nervous system, boost clarity, and prevent burnout. It's your secret weapon against the myth of busyness.

You don't need hours to find calm. The power to shift from overwhelmed to present is always available, right here, right now, in those tiny moments you choose to reclaim. It's about what's possible when you choose presence over frantic pace.

My Littlest Yogi! 🧘‍♀️👶

My heart absolutely melted during my yoga practice on this day! There I was, deep in my Downward-Facing Dog, or Adho Mukha Svanasana, when who should sneak into the room but my granddaughter, who was still mostly on all fours!

Before I knew it, she was crawling right underneath me, then – can you believe it? – she started mimicking my pose! It was the most adorable, spontaneous display of a 'can-do' attitude I've ever seen. My daughter grabbed a camera and caught it. Just goes to show, you're never too young to start exploring what your body can do, and how powerful it is to focus on what's possible!

Grandmothers really do have such an important role to play as role models, sharing wisdom, joy, and healthy habits with the next generation. It's about leading by example and watching them discover their own amazing capabilities.

What are your favourite ways to share your passions with the little ones in your life?

Full Circle: Back to Teaching Mindfulness amd reflecting on My First Mindfulness Course!

It's been absolutely brilliant to be back teaching mindfulness recently! There's something truly special about guiding others on their journey to greater well-being, and it really reminds me why I love what I do.

Funnily enough, I was just looking back through some old notes and stumbled across a review from the very first Breathworks course I ever taught. Reading it brought back so many wonderful memories and reminded me of the incredible impact mindfulness can have. Here's what one participant said:

"Excellent teacher who delivered the course brilliantly... her great humour, compassion & passion for the subject came through. Initially I came for my counselling clients but found it very useful and transformative for myself too."

Every class is a new opportunity to share these transformative practices, and I'm so grateful for every student who trusts me to be their guide.

Feeling inspired to explore mindfulness for yourself? Drop me a line.

I offer mindfulness courses both face-to-face and online, making it accessible wherever you are.

Aging with Attitude: Celebrating Your Kick-Ass Self!

Another year around the sun! It’s easy on birthdays to glance back at younger days, but today, let’s wholeheartedly celebrate the incredible person I am *right now*. Every year etched on my journey brings a wealth of wisdom, resilience, and a deeper understanding of myself. I've learned, I've grown, and yes, I've absolutely still got that fire within!

Forget the notion that aging diminishes us. It refines us. It equips us with a unique kind of strength, a quiet confidence that only comes with experience. I know my worth, I understand my power, and when the moment calls for it, I can still absolutely kick ass! Remember "Listening in to the quiet voices." All the wisdom is already within.

So today, I raise a glass to the amazing individual I’ve become. I embrace every laugh line, every story, every hard-earned lesson. I celebrate the vibrant, capable, and utterly fantastic me. And in doing so, I hope you'll all join me in celebrating yourselves. The best is truly yet to come, fueled by the wisdom of our years and the unwavering spirit within each and every one of us. Happy Birthday to me, and a heartfelt wish for you all to embrace the amazing journey you're on!
