Valuing Minds

Valuing Minds Herts. based private Educational Psychologists offering advice & support to children & young people, their parents, carers & educators, in London/South East.

We can conduct ASD & ADHD & other assessments (e.g. for EHCPs) plus support for schools. Valuing Minds is a Hertfordshire-based Educational Psychology consultancy providing services for 0 – 25 year olds, their parents or carers and their school or college. We believe in putting children and young people at the heart of everything we do, whether that is conducting an assessment of a young person, contributing to the review of an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) or enabling a school management team to work more effectively together, so that the children in that school benefit from a clear strategy and an improved educational experience. All our work starts with an information-gathering exercise with you, whether you are a parent, teacher or a youngster yourself. This helps us find out what’s on your mind and what concerns or issues you may have that you are seeking help with. We will work with you to agree a way forward and what steps will be involved. We will keep you informed about progress and, if appropriate, will provide you with a detailed report. Valuing Minds prides itself on its open, honest and pragmatic approach. This means that we will work to ensure that interventions are practical and focused on the child’s, family’s or school’s needs. We won’t use jargon or ‘psycho-babble’ but aim to explain things in a way that gives you confidence and clarity about what we’re saying. The psychologists working with Valuing Minds, whether employed by us or our associates, are all members of the British Psychological Society and/or Association of Educational Psychologists and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. This means you can be confident that they have demonstrated the level or knowledge and expertise required to practise as an educational psychologist in the UK. They have all been through the Disclosure and Barring Service (previously known as a CRB check). We have links with other professionals, for example, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists etc. and can involve them as and when appropriate.

Some lovely feedback from the mother of an 11 year old:

"We have had the privilege of working with Nicky for over four years, and her support has been truly invaluable to our family. She has taken the time to really get to know us and understand our child’s unique needs, offering not just professional expertise but also genuine compassion and care throughout.

Nicky has supported us through two SEND Tribunals, and her guidance, clarity, and calm reassurance at every stage made an incredibly difficult process so much more manageable. Her reports are detailed, insightful, and always focused on what is best for the child. Thanks to Nicky's support we were able to secure the right secondary school placement.

We are so grateful for everything Nicky has done for our child and for us as a family. Her knowledge, dedication, and thoughtful approach have made a lasting difference, and we would wholeheartedly recommend her to any family seeking support on their SEND journey."

Some more lovely feedback:
"Many thanks Nicky and thank you for producing such a helpful report and for your excellent input as a witness at the Tribunal at such short notice."

We always appreciate these thoughtful testimonials.

Parents of L, age 5: "Thank you so much for the report. We have just read it, and it’s absolutely impeccable! Your insights are so clear and truly capture our son in such an accurate and thoughtful way—we are incredibly grateful. We’ve now forwarded the report to our solicitor and deeply appreciate you getting it to us in time. We’re hopeful this case doesn’t go to tribunal, but if it does, we feel confident knowing we have a solid case supported by your brilliant expert advice. We can’t thank you enough for that."
