Good morning everyone.

We hope you're all ok, and getting ready for the weekend. After all the firework displays the team have supported over the last couple of weeks, we're now getting ready for the run up to Christmas 🎅🏻, supporting local authorities and organisations across the region with their Christmas markets, festivals; and of course the spectacular switching on of Christmas Lights🎄.

However, as we all start to get ready for the big day, organisations across the country are still trying to raise awareness for their causes. Today is World Diabetes Day. It's a condition we here about a lot, but do you know what your risk factors are? ❓ What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is caused by your body not making enough, or any, of a hormone called insulin, or when the insulin isn't working properly (insulin resistance). ❓ What are the signs and symptoms of diabetes?
The symptoms can depend on the type of diabetes you have. But the common symptoms of diabetes include:
❗ Going to the toilet a lot, especially at night
❗ Being really thirsty
❗ Feeling more tired than usual
❗ Losing weight without trying to
❗ Ge***al itching or thrush
❗ Cuts and wounds take longer to heal
❗ Blurred vision

❓ What are the long term affects of Diabetes?
Having diabetes can increase your chance of getting other health problems, including:
❗ Heart attack and stroke
❗ Kidney problems
❗ Nerve damage and foot problems – diabetes can cause damage to nerves (peripheral neuropathy)
❗ Sight problems
❗ Gum disease
❗ Some of the team have actually been to patients who has lost limbs as a result of diabetes 😮.

Complications can develop over time and are linked to high blood glucose (sugar) levels. Managing your blood glucose well and keeping to your agreed target level can lower your chances of getting complications.

⛔ If you are concerned about symptoms you or a loved one has, please speak to your GP as early as possible. Delaying could make it worse. Only call 999 in an emergency.

We hope your Thursday morning is going well 😀.

Earlier in the week we had a visit to Leeds to support staff at a globally well known leading medical technology company. This is the second of their sites we've visited, being highly recommended by their colleagues across the region.

Our experienced instructor attended to teach their team CPR and other essential first aid techniques.

Good evening wonderful followers.

As we mentioned over the weekend, this month is busy for many organisations. Tonight alone we've numerous teams out across the region supporting various firework displays, including a large one for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

⭐ However, this post isn't about us, or even bonfire night🎆. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. According to the NHS lung cancer is one of the most common and serious types of cancer, with a staggering 43,000 people diagnosed with the condition each year in the UK 😮.

⭐ There are usually no signs or symptoms in the early stages of lung cancer, but the NHS state many people with the condition eventually develop symptoms including:
❗ a persistent cough
❗ coughing up blood
❗ persistent breathlessness
❗ unexplained tiredness and weight loss
❗ an ache or pain when breathing or coughing

⭐ MacMillan Cancer Support also suggest signs and symptoms such as:
❗ a chest infection that does not get better, or repeated chest infections
❗ chest or shoulder pain that does not get better
❗ a hoarse voice for 3 weeks or more.

⛔ If you have any of these symptoms, it is important to get them checked by your GP.

Good afternoon our amazing .

November is a busy month, not only for us as a business supporting many well known organisations and businesses; but also with many health related organisations raising public health awareness on many issues they feel so strongly about.

Most of us have heard of "Movember", where awareness is raised for Men's Health, but there's more than just that happening this month.

Come back regularly to learn more about what else is coming up this month. We strongly believe awareness plays a huge part in prevention, and even if we help just one person through our educational posts then we're extremely happy.

Awareness days are so important in highlighting important issues and concerns, promoting events to support community involvement, and providing free education to our friends and families to keep everyone safe.

🦠Bug of the Month🦠

Let's start with something seasonal - Flu, also referred to as influenza.

⭐What is it?
Flu is a contagious respiratory viral infection.

⭐What are the symptoms?
- a sudden high temperature
- an aching body
- feeling tired or exhausted
- a dry cough
- a sore throat
- a headache
- difficulty sleeping
- loss of appetite
- diarrhoea or tummy pain
- feeling sick and being sick

⭐What can we do to help and protect ourselves and others?
- Have your annual flu vaccination (if you can)
- Wash your hands often with warm water and soap
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze (if you do not have a tissue, cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow, not into your hand)
- Bin used tissues as quickly as possible
- Get loads of rest and sleep
- Keep hydrated with water
- Take paracetamol and ibuprofen to lower your temperature if required (please always read the box to make sure you have the correct dose)
- Keep warm, but please remember to check your temperature. If you feel cold that may be as a result of the temperature, and by wrapping up it will make you feel worse.

❗ Flu can kill. That's not been dramatic. Several thousand die each year as a result of flu. Let's protect each other, and the NHS.

Today is World Menopause Day.

Even in the 21st Century, talking about menopause, it's symptoms and effects on women can be seen as taboo. Let's break that thought and get talking about it.

Menopause is a natural biological process which affects women differently. Some may have a variety of symptoms, others might have none at all. However, our colleagues, loved ones, and those closest to us who are currently going through perimenopause or menopause may need the support and understanding of their friends, family and managers around them from time to time.

Now, to the men amongst us. This affects us too. Please don't say things like "it's just hot flushes", "don't be moody" or "you're getting old". Believe me, they don't help... Please educate yourselves, learn about the symptoms, listen without judging, be patient and promote open communication; but above all, be supportive.

Misinformation v's Disinformation

Good afternoon, we really do hope your day is going well 😊.

As we know from out post earlier, there's huge risks associated with listening to the wrong advice.

The BBC Bitesize series has some great information on the differences between the two terms, how to recognise when it's fake news and examples for you to look at.

There's also a short handy quiz to make sure you understand it better.

Although it's primarily aimed at young people in the UK, this Bitesize post should be read by adults too. It's well worth a read.

Thinking twice about what you see online? You're right to! 🧐

In a world of endless online information, it can be difficult to tell what's fact and what's fiction, especially when it comes to your health.

Misinformation (unintentionally incorrect info) and disinformation (deliberately false info) can have serious consequences.

Believing false health claims can lead to:
