Misinformation v's Disinformation

Good afternoon, we really do hope your day is going well 😊.

As we know from out post earlier, there's huge risks associated with listening to the wrong advice.

The BBC Bitesize series has some great information on the differences between the two terms, how to recognise when it's fake news and examples for you to look at.

There's also a short handy quiz to make sure you understand it better.

Although it's primarily aimed at young people in the UK, this Bitesize post should be read by adults too. It's well worth a read.

Today let's talk about misinformation v's disinformation, and the risks associated with it to your health.

Thinking twice about what you see online? You're right to! 🧐

In a world of endless online information, it can be difficult to tell what's fact and what's fiction, especially when it comes to your health.

Misinformation (unintentionally incorrect info) and disinformation (deliberately false info) can have serious consequences.

Believing false health claims can lead to:

❌ Delayed or avoided necessary medical care.
❌ Use of ineffective or even harmful "treatments."
❌ Increased anxiety and stress.
❌ Damage to trust in healthcare professionals.

Your health is too important for guesswork. Always rely on trusted sources like the NHS website, your GP, and qualified healthcare professionals for health advice.

We're extremely pleased to announce that from tomorrow, the training team at Vie Medic Services Ltd will be registered through Qualsafe to deliver the FREC 3 course, with FREC 4 to follow very shortly afterwards.

With the 2024/25 football season coming to an end very soon, the senior leadership team will again take stock of how it went, review the patients we've treated and their outcomes, review feedback from the team, and subsequently plan for the 2025/26 season.

We'll identify lessons and put plans in place to keep everyone safe, working closely with the Safety Officers at both clubs.

Supporting both Sheffield United and Barnsley Football Club with their crowd cover has been a privilege, and we're looking forward to seeing what the new season holds.

If you are feeling stressed, please speak to a healthcare professional who will be able to signpost you to support groups in your area.

While stress isn't a mental health condition, the two are closely related – stress can result in poor mental health, and poor mental health can result in stress. In , here are a few things that may help ease some stress 💙

Every April is Stress Awareness Month. 2025's theme is . A call to action by the The Stress Management Society

Anyone can get stressed, yet it can be hard to recognise it yourself. The charity Mind has a great page on their website about the causes stress.
