🪼 Piddling on a jellyfish sting 🪼

Whilst we’re sure the motives of this approach's creator were noble and had the patient's interests at heart, urinating on a jellyfish sting does not help.

Whilst urine contains compounds like ammonia and urea, studies have found that it doesn't work.

So, keep your pants on and instead opt for vinegar.

Important Message.

I have made a decision regarding continuing MJR Training Services into 2025 and I have decided to close the business on 1st January 25. As of this date I will no longer be trading, however any booked courses will be honoured.

Myth: You can be sued for giving first aid

This myth needs to be shown the door as it could cost someone their life. Some may be discouraged from volunteering and helping others in an emergency due to the fear they may be sued.

This is precisely the reason we now have in England and Wales the Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Act 2015 (SARAH Act). The SARAH Act in combination with common law makes it extremely unlikely a person can be sued for providing first aid so long as the rescuer is acting responsibly and heroically.

Coffee grounds stop bleeding ☕🩸

Many people love using home remedies. But some remedies are best left in the cupboard. One such case is putting coffee grounds in wounds to stop the bleeding.

Now the idea behind using coffee grounds is that the caffeine in coffee is a vasoconstrictor. But doing so won’t stop the bleeding, could infect the wound and make it difficult and painful for healthcare providers to clean.

Myth: Non-first aiders can’t use an AED ⚡

This myth was possibly caused by some AED cabinets saying, “for trained personnel only”.

But this is a myth that needs to go! Especially as it could prevent someone getting the help they need.

You are not required to have any training before using an AED.

AEDs have been designed for public use and once activated, will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.
